my buddy came over and showed me how to adjust valves, timing, dwell, tighten up the play in the steering.
it is simple when there is someone explaining the what, whys. wheres and how comes as he goes.
    i learned a lot today.
on the one rust spot in the M.C. i gave it a dose of naval jelly.
    it looks good now.

the engine starts right up a putts happily along with no tapping or other odd noises except for this wheezing noise after i shut the engine off.
    it is hard to describe.
a productive day even if i didnt get to do much with the brakes.

this is just the tip of the iceberg.

the intake valve clearance was supposed to be 0.016
it was 0.064 on the #4 valve and 0.035 on the #2
that unless i am way off explains the tapping....

i think ive got a handle on the light situation.
i know the brake switch was disconnected.
and the turn signal switch itself is just so old and worn that it didnt respond to a rebuild.
actually after my disassembly, cleaning and reassembly.
it doesnt work at all now!R)
but thats ok because i just ordered a new switch from Rick`s Automotive Hardware Store online.
to tell the truth after getting it running reasonably well
i am a lot more optimistic about this whole endeavor.
some of you kind members have offered some brake components and that gets me closer to getting to drive this slug(thats what i named it)
    for the first time.

I think he is starting to feel the addiction of Jeep! Hey Uncle Bil, I just parted out two axles. I have brake parts. Drums (will need turned) shoes (will need relined) springs, adjusters, wheel cylinders, etc. etc. Post us a pic after you get the hub off and we can help you figure out what is missing or broke.

i drove it for the 1st time today. (i live in the country there is nobody on my county road)
    yep it's a tractor.
    top speed?
    about 40 mph.
    i feel like i am driving a D-9 CATERPILLAR or something.:driving:
the gearing is so incredibly low on this pig it is surreal.
i installed a new M.C. and ran a buncha fluid through the lines.
it will stop but not very well.
the new turn signal switch arrived today.
some of the wire colors dont match.
i am going to go with a new wiring harness.
    it really needs it.
tomorrow i am going to hook the switch up.
today after freezing my butt off for most of the day i hung it up around 5pm.
i have gotta get some seats!

    i told a guy i know i bought a 63 willys.
    he goes. why?
    he just dont get it.....

That looks like a good deal. Significantly cheaper than the painless kit I was looking at getting...
Has anyone use this vendors wiring harness and had good results?

I'd hate to threadjack, but how did you mount those seats? My '57 had one piece frames and I ended up hacking off the backs to them and ghetto mounting it. Is there a better way to mount the seats or a place to find brackets like yours?
