    First weather above freezing here.

Charged the battery and pumped up the tires in the '56, just in case we have an early Spring and there are no major blizzards between now and May.

I had issues on my Mustang. A persistently leaky rear main even after swapping it just like Rich M. and this:

This happened twice. Even with high tack on the head side, being properly torqued, and torqued again after heat cycles. Changed to a different brand and never had another problem.

I've also had decent luck with McCord gaskets.

Woke up this morning and dropped off the wheels and tires fro the M416 trailer, then went home and installed a hitch on the CJ then drove back and picked up the tires when they were ready.

Since the glass flatty is more or less operable, not draining fluids and money from me, there's time for other things.
Geoffreyl did me a solid and picked up a low IMG_20210310_181129863~2.jpg stall B&M converter for me. New front seal in the th350, converter installed and bolted up. Stop at flaps tomorrow for an o ring for the 350/d300 adapter. That's all for now..

As long as I've had my CJ5 I have been stuffing the air compressor behind the back seat. I have always intended to build a mount to put it under the hood. This past weekend Lady Shadetree was in San Diego with her friends and I had a lot of gloriously free time. I bent up some 1/8"X1" flat stock to make a couple of brackets to mount the compressor to the drivers side inner fender.

A little bit of wiring later and I used the newly mounted compressor to air the tires up to street pressure. I hadn't drove the Jeep since we took it to the desert a few weeks ago so they were still deflated to trail pressure. I was happy to see that the hose that came with the compressor was long enough to easily reach the passenger rear tire. I should have done this a long time ago.

With the newly inflated tires I ran a few miles down the street to my local In-N-Out Hamburger stand. It was a beautiful drive with the top and doors off. Lunch in the Jeep parked on the side of the road was the best dining room ever.

While working on the compressor I noticed my radiator is weeping from the tubes in one spot. After lunch I ordered an aluminum 3 row radiator. It should arrive any day.

Today I ordered a CRT hei distributor, and a new fuel pump and filter. This should get me almost to the "ready for a first start" point!

I'm thinking of springing for the classic tube stainless steel fuel lines, but didn't want to push my luck with the CFO today. Anyone have any feedback on them?

Got the wiring cleaned up and hand sanded all the parts of the roll cage where I never painted and it had rusted (engine bay too). Cut out a new larger diameter dashbar. Seeing Fireball working on his fan shroud gave me the push I needed to cobble together a tunnel cover. I started with a cardboard template, picked up a piece of 24x16 20 gauge cold roll for $10, then started cutting and bending where needed. I was given this sheet metal brake/shear/roller and it came in handy for this little project. Threw on the sidebars to make sure they fit after cooling off. I'm finally almost done. The only things left are exhaust, driveshaft loops, alignment, and still waiting for my title to show up.

At least I'm good for something. 20 gauge? What? Not 14 gauge?

got my 465/D18 adapter sorted, they are a bit fussy if you want twin sticks as you know. I bolted everything together for final measurements today. I need to drive Madeline to a friends memorial on Saturday, then she will come in the shop for surgery. For some reason I can't post pics here, please see my intro. Will.

It was that or 1/8" plate. I wanted something easy to work with and it didn't need to double as a recovery point. :)

So I was supposed to have driveshaft loops made from 1/4" (minimum) steel and steel cable was too logical so chain it is. 3/8" chain welded and bolted to the frame and bellhousing. Not for everybody, I know. While under there again I saw the front pinion seal seeping, rear pinion seal seeping, right axle tube is leaking, the rear main seal is leaking, the power steering gear is weeping, and the transmission and transfer case leak. Good, everything has fluid and should prohibit rust.

    Exactly.
Ha! Nice try. It's old and leaks. I accept the issues and move on. They might fix themselves like the fhead. :)
