Took the 64 USMC M38A1 to the Denton MV show.
Had a blast driving it around the show talking to people and taking in the sights.
Had so much fun in fact I forgot to take pictures. Had to have my friends send the pictures to me. Jeep ran great, a little cold natured, but what a blast!

Had such a great time, I forgot to take pictures. Next show I will remember to take some. My friends who went with us and carried the Jeep sent me the pictures.
I still have to put the 1st Hospital Decals and the front plate like were on my Dad's in Vietnam.

For the past few years I have had my high lift jack mounted on the hood hinges
    [IMG]

But I want to be able to put my windshield down flat for flat towing.

I have a little space on the spare tire carrier on the passenger side (this is an older picture):

So I bought a jack mount designed for JK's & JL's. I welded up a bracket with some 1.5 x 1.5 x 1/8" angle and attached it to the tire carrier:

Painted it and re-assembled everything. Now I can lay the windshield down andI can remove the high-lift without breaking my back.

Is that a stock colour? It's pretty close to what Tonk was when he left the factory.

It’s not a stock color. Cynthia picked it out from an EBay store.

Looking back in my pictures I see that it took just over 3weeks from the time I started sanding to paint today.

Last week I started hearing a lot of noise from the fan indicating the water pump bearings were going out. The fan blade was pretty wobbly as well.

Since I had to open the system up anyway I decided to check the timing chain. It was very worn out. I suspected that because it was getting noisy too. It is the original chain from 1971.

I rebuilt this engine in 1989 but I did not have the time & money to get a new timing chain set, so I am paying for that mistake now. At that time this was my daily driver and I was doing the work in a gravel parking lot in front of my apartment building. I was trying to get it done as quick as possible because the land lord was giving me the evil eye.

I also took the opportunity to join the heater delete club. I don't need it any more and it was just another potential leak point. I'll be making a cover plate soon.
