Drove it! Ran like a dog. I had tried to dial the timing back a few degrees but it wasn't happy. Back to 16° and balanced the idle mixture screws with the vacuum gauge. Snappy again! Plugs look really good.
Couple of points that are clear. Going to need an adjustable valve in the rear brake line, locks up behind too quick. Need to source a shorter pitman arm and might put a valve in the ps line to reduce the pressure. The ps is too good with little road feel and it's a bit darty for my taste...

I have one for a 76cj5 installed which had the same power drum/ disc setup. I think it's just the lightness of this rig.

I hear you. Delphi 600 box, little better than 12:1 ratio. Anything over 40 my knuckles get white. Awesome off road, 1 finger on the wheel.

Yep pretty happy with it. The T18 was a little fussy going up into 3rd for awhile, grinding occasionally. It liked a little throttle goose but seems broken in now, shifts fine.
I'm at the base of the Catoctin mountains, sort of rolling Piedmont. It's still rural here, lots of farmland still. I went to farrier school in Ithaca, quite similar rolled a little steeper and deeper there. If it wasn't for colder longer winter, steep taxes I'd like it there.
