Hey John. In the last video of it running, there looks to be one of those radiators hoses snaking around the back of the engine. It looked unnecessarily long for what I thought was a simple 12" hose on most finished setups, wondered if you had some sort of remote tank or filter or something hidden from the video, or just used a long length you didn't want to cut yet, or what. Maybe there was a heater core I didn't see in the video.

I was confused because your heater core hose routing is different from mine, for what I believe is the return hose. I have the return hose where you have your temp sender. I don't recall anything that could be used to connect that hose to the rear of the manifold like it appears yours is connected.

The back of the photo is a little dark, but I don't see anything back there like your return hose fitting, in the top left of the manifold in the photo. Just wondering if I don't have a stock manifold or if they changed the design between 66 and 67, or based on certain options. Unless it's that small plug but I thought yours was further back on the manifold. And that small plug doesn't look big enough for a heater core fitting.

Apparently the way I was hotlinking Google Photos images, some people weren't seeing them. I've fixed my posts in this thread so if it seemed odd I was referencing non-existent images, that's why. They showed up on browsers I'm logged into google on, but no ones where I'm not.

You can see in this photo bottom left the spot where the heater hose goes. I may be wrong but heat was an option, maybe yours didnt have it and used a different manifold ?

The pipe on the left of the water neck is where the heater plugs into. The other side is on the water pump. You have the same manifold as my 66

Yeah sorry if I wasn't clear, mine had a heater hooked up, just differently than yours. That's why I wondered if there was a year to year change in the manifolds.

There must be a change from 66 to 67.

The 66 had a few changes as it was the first year with the Buick. However some states a 66 is titled as a 67.

Also I noticed something else. I had pointed out earlier that my ignition coil was where everyone else's dashpot seems to be located (or missing in some cases), and the coil is attached with the alternator bracket bolt. But, I was reading the FSM disassembly guide, and it has this to say for the intake manifold step:

D1-7. Remove Intake Manifold and Carburetor Assembly

Disconnect crankcase vent hose, distributor vacuum hose, and fuel line from carburetor. Disconnect two distributor leads from ignition coil. Disconnect wiring harness from coolant temperature sending unit. Remove ten cap bolts which attach intake manifold to cylinder heads. Remove intake manifold assembly and gaskets from engine.

With your alls' setup, I can't imagine why disconnecting the ignition coil would be part of the manifold removal step. With the setup I had when I got my Jeep, it makes sense if you were going to leave the coil and carb on the manifold when lifting it off the block. So is it possible I had an alternative, but still stock, setup for the coil as well?

I did a lot of research doing my build wanting to be factory correct. I found 2 areas where the factory put the coil. One was where I have mine on the front of the engine and the other is mounted on the manifold on the drivers side between the carb and valve cover. I could not find out however what determined which spot it went

Well then, seems mine was probably in a stock location after all. I wonder if maybe some engines did not come with the dashpot and instead had the coil there. I don't know if I could make the coil and dashpot work together in that location.

So you all might be saying where has this project gone to ...or not... well heres the story. I also own a 1998 Jeep Wrangler.

For the past few years It's been popping out of 3rd gear so I finally decided to get a new ...not rebuilt... transmission for it. When I took the old one out I said what the heck I'll clean up the rust on the frame and this is what I found

SO with a brand new transmission sitting on the work bench I was pretty much locked into fixing or replacing the frame. Finding a donor frame proved to be a dream so I bought the parts to fix it. This rust is so common you can purchase repair kits to fix it

    And fix I did

Also cleaned all the surface rust off the rest of the frame

Then I said what the heck I'll replace the rusted fender too

Then I said ......well I have to paint the fender soooooo why not paint the whole Jeep, so out came the sander
    [IMG]

Then 4 coats of high build epoxy primer then some block sanding

I'm looking for a TJ for my 18yo son. Finding one without rust is proving to be a challenge. It is scary that a vehicle only 12-15 years old is ready to collapse into itself. Sad

Fortunately except for a small repair on the floor the body is rust free. You want rust free look in Arizona lol

I just pulled the trigger on a Waldron's Stainless Steel exhaust. I'll report back with my review. Keep up the good work John.
