198 Starter Woes, (was: Eugene Update in OT)

    Thanks William, I tried Google too.

    First page I turned up with Earlycj5.com. :shock:

    Carquest has the starter for $53 with core.

    I asked one of the guys in the dept. if anyone around here rebuilt starters and alts. No go. They went out of busines/retired/quit. :(

    Looks like Carquest it is for me. Only thing I can find unique about it is the drive gear. Other than that it's just a GM starter.

    If ya can get the lifetime warrenty on that carquest starter its good. 8)
    THats where I got mine originally for the :v6: and took it back yesterday and they handed me over a brand new starter. :)

    I shoulda said "I'll take it" when I was on the phone with them the first time.

    Guy told me it was $53 that time. This time it's $118. :shock:

    I'm not gonna spend that kinda dough on an engine that supposedly has a rod knock. GRRRRR.

    I guess I'll try to pull start it. Hope everything is good to go if I do that. :rofl:

    I assume you told them that you were quoted $53 the last time? And that likely didn't help...

    That's a heckuva difference. Maybe I'll try the site William came up with.

    I'd like to try to pull start it but, I thought I might. Now that I think about it that's prolly not a good idea. Town cop would prolly frown on my driving around without a license plate. :rofl:
