I had to modify the mirror system. The part on the door was broken. I found a part from an other mirror, and it was adaptable.
I had to modify a little bit. I repaint it. And now it works. Just a hole to fill.
I also found the "thing" to sort the engine by hand, need some painting!

Yesterday I installed a horn and ran steel line to the carb so I should be completely legal now.

This afternoon I (finally) bought a 7x20 trailer so we could go on a little shakedown run.

2005 iirc. The heads need to be rebuilt but it's been doing great otherwise.

  10. Jeep has had a very strong exhaust smell, even accounting for a 45+ year old carbureted engine. So, thought it was probably past time for a little TLC in the hopes to get her running a little better. Rebuilt the quadrajet...which I ended up ruining the baseplate on when my homemade jig for boring out the throttle shaft holes slipped. Whoops. Luckily the local junkyard had one I could scavenge for parts, so it's back together.

Also felt the other usual culprits needed attention as well.

Took advantage of the first day of Spring and took her for a drive around the neighborhood. Incredible how much a difference everything makes. That little SBC has no problems at all pushing this light Jeep up and over hills. It's still runs rough and misses when cold however, but runs nice and smooth when warmed up. Still chasing that problem down.

I pulled some really old tires off these 15x8 wagon wheels over at my dad's house.

He has this super sweet set of tires that he ran on his Jeep back in the day in the sand. So cool.
Next job is drain the fuel tank and clean it.

Went to my buddy's place where he has lifts and a Huth HB-10 for exhaust work. That machine is great.

3B header Version 2.0 It looks like a mess but it fits much better than the earlier version.

The rest of the exhaust was bent in probably 5 minutes and I threw some tack welds on it. Needs some adjustment but not too bad for something tossed together in a hurry. It's not even fastened to the collector.

Do you plan to drive around your place for the pleasure of your neighbors, or go to adapted places to drive this very technical Jeep ? :D

I can actually hear things with an exhaust now...... like how the transfer case was growling. At 3500 rpm (under load) there is an air restriction either from the air filter or air filter flex hose. With the air cleaner hose off the air horn it spun to 4k no problem. The flex hose is suspect though since it's very soft and cracking. Might just leave it alone since I've been thinking about stepping up to a 2bbl carb lately. :sneak:
