Very cool. What oil pan is that? Stock tbi pan? I've got a CPI 4.3l and the oil is stupid on it. It's hanging a few inches below the frame rails… I've got a t18 behind it though, so without cutting the whole floor out it's not going to go up any more.

don't mind that specialized draglink holder!

It's a stock 1995 S-10 TBI motor and I'm sure the 95 CPI motor also has the same oil pan.

    Mine is definitely different.

Can anyone that has done this before post pics of what they did with the exhaust?

Ran into another problem today. I think I can just trim it.

Here's the latest. I found a 1995 Chevy Astro Van manifold. Looks like it is the right shape, it hits the steering column. I'm thinking I can machine the mating surface down and move the steering column over.

I think Joe is right about the air filter housing. Seems I remember noticing that on a 1500 pick up in the junk yard. Worth a look.

Not worried about the air cleaner. My main concern is the exhaust manifold. Found someone that can machine it. Hopefully it works. I hate to totally rework the floor just to move the steering column over.

Scott do you still need a wiring diagram? If so I may be able to help, from the looks of the controll module you have it may be a VCM. Starting in 1995 there were two different type controll modules used on the S/T trucks an PCM, powertrain controll module and a VCM, vehicle controll module, both are wired differently.

Looks like you're running into some of the same problems that popped up for me a few months ago. Unfortunately, I haven't touched my Jeep since a few months ago. I'm interested to see what you do with the exhaust manifolds. I'm trying to run mine with a short water pump and get a new pulley to mount on the harmonic balancer.

I ordered a factory service manual. Seems there are a few wired I need info on.
Still waiting for the exhaust manifold to be machined. I'll see how that goes when I get it back.

Got me wondering how I can avoid the exhaust problem, if I ever get to doing a 4.3. I'll use a TBI engine but, I'm assuming the exhaust manifolds are the same. Not sure I'd want to go with headers anymore.

A buddy angle machined the manifold to clear the Saginaw steering on his flatty. Worked well for him. Just can't go too much or the bolt holes will be angled too much.

If I ever go that route, I think I will go to a real short column inside to rerun the way the steering is (hot rod style). That would avoid the whole issue, but might be more than you want to bite off at some times.

Installed the sending unit into the tank and getting ready to put the pump on the pickup tube. See how easy it will be?

Machined 1/4" off of the mating surface of the exhaust manifold. Now moving the steering column over. This is becoming really time consuming. Here is how it looks now. I still have to grind the u-joints a little, but it does seem like its going to clear. Boy it is a tight fit.
