What's the best method of painting the raised "Jeep" on the side of my 75' CJ5, a different color then the body color?

I think there was another thread here within the last six months or so that said to use a firm roller...kind of like the rubber ink pad type.

nwedgar is correct and I'm sure that Tim will confirm that the dealer originally used a rubber roller to paint that lettering. Not sure about yours but on my 78 it was actually vinyl letters that covered the lettering. I don't know if they started using decals when they changed the lettering style or if it's just something on later CJ's.

Yup, been covered before if you search for it. I believe the consensus was rubber roller & sign painter's paint.

When I rebuilt my CJ, I remember ordering the Renegade decals. They came with the main gold "Renegade" bar across the hood, 2 "Levis" decals and 2 gold "Jeep" decals.

I'd try a foam roller - you can get those at the home centers or paint stores. I've seen rubber rollers somewhere... maybe for use with ink? Block printing supplies at the crafts or art store?

The body man at the Jeep dealer used a regular paint roller of some kind.

I made one by forcing a piece of copper tubing through a chunk of rubber hose with a handle made outta welding rod.

Don't worry about it too much - most people won't inspect it closer than~ 8'. I just used a 1/4 paintbrush and it came out OK.

Not that it matters......by the time my Jeep's done, paint will probably be outlawed anyway.
