75 CJ6 rustbucket resto.

    Here are the last couple of pics to the point where I'm at now.

    I really started to have some fun, as everything was coming together nicely and speedy for a change!
    I had all the parts to finish the Jeep, summer holiday was coming up, and the tub neared completion.
    This was going to be a holiday to remember!

    We left for a bit of camping in the Cederberg mountains early in December, and all that had to be done is for the tub and parts to be spray painted.
    Unfortunately....or fortunately, we didn't have any cellphone reception in the mountains, so I had to wait and see on my return how things went.
    On the 22nd December we returned, and as I got reception again, I got a message that said the tub is finished!!!

    Sooo, on the 23rd I gathered a couple of friends, and set of to fetch the tub.
    Luckily I pre-fit the tub, so it could go directly onto the chassis as we offload it.All the parts were scattered under the tree, almost like the first time I saw the Jeep, just in much better shape, and a much smaller tree!

    :rofl:Looking at these pictures now, I realised again that I just parked everything on the lawn after the getaway, and started on the Jeep immediately.:rofl:

    I decided to loosely fit the grill, fenders and hood. After everything was fitted, I shimmed and moved the tub so that the best compromise could be found between sitting straight on the chassis, and the correct lines between the hood fenders and grill.It's not perfect, but its more that good enough! I made some poly bushings, but later decided to go the rubber route.Glad I did!

    Now the fun really started!
    Fitting all those parts that I polished, sprayed or ordered new.
    She's got a face again!!!

    As you all know, to find original rear lights for intermediates is near impossible, so I had to go the alternative route, but it doesn't look too bad.

    With all the lights fitted, it was time to start the wiring on the dash panel.
    I decided to make up my own wiring loom from the wiring diagram I've got, as a new loom was a bit expensive!
    I also decided to use a bit thicker gauge wire, as the price difference was minimal.
    My girlfriend KINDLY allowed me and the cat to use the diningroom table to start on the dash panel wiring.(I still havent washed her car!:rofl:)

    The dash panel is in, and fits perfectly! Now for all the wiring. I took the wiring loom for the rear lights and fuel gauge along the frame rail, together with the fuel and brake lines. I took out the firewall plug, as it was already melted due to bad connections, and rather just used a rubber grommet through the firewall.

    Next up was the radiator, master cylinders, brake lines, fuel line, wiring and finaly the battery and air cleaner!
    Remember, most of this was pre-fitted, so it went really quick!

    Amazingly, all problems I had was the hazzards, and the ignition switch that was wrongly wired, but quickly sorted that out.
    All the gauges, including the often troublesome fuel gauge work.

    And there she is!
    Absolutely worth the wait, blood sweat and tears!!!

    On the 10th of January I took her out for the first drive around the block, but the carburetor was just junk!
    I took it off again, and found a lot of fuel in the intake manifold, so decided to take appart the carb again.
    The new accellerator pump diaphragm I installed completely desintegrated!
    So I installed the old one I kept, and re-adjusted the punp.
    After that everything was absolutely great!
    It cleared roadworthy first time!

    All that I can say again is, it was such a pleasure to do this project, and well worth it in the end.
    I love driving this Jeep, it is just something soooo diverent and rewarding.

    Next up is to take her to the dunes, and give her a bit of a 4x4 shakedown.I'm looking so much forward to that!jeep toss

    Nice work, oke! I'd love to go Jeepin with you sometime. I'm coming to Namibia and Botswana next month for work. Unfortunately no time for fun, though. :(

    I don't get to Namibia and Botswana often enough.
    In December I'm doing a desert trip again from Luderitz to Walishbay. Can't wait!
    But for that I'll have to take the Landcruiser though, like they say, horses for courses!

    Enjoy your stay, although for work, the views are still beautifull!
