Finally got out and street tested the power steering I put in last week. It's like driving a tiny little car, the 17" wheel and power steering make turning the jeep a 1 finger operation. Can't wait to try it out on the trail next weekend. Only problem is turning radius, need to swap out the scout d44 knuckles for some ford knuckles, the long arms on the scout pieces along with the shorter XJ pitman arm I used really increased my turning circle. Oh, well something to do next month.

The power steering box is off a Wagoneer
    Pitman arm is Stock XJ
    Hoses are modified Wagoneer
Pump and brackets are off a Buick 340, with an output porrt from a wagoneer pump

You don't want an XJ pitman unless you are mounting the box really high, it has a 2.5" drop. The wagoneer arm is pretty flat and will work better for a more stock mounting location.

I think it's less than 3 full turns. It's really quick lock to lock

SSDutch is about the same - roughly 2.75 turns lock to lock. Not what I would have put in, but maybe being in the longer wheelbase it'll be ok.

Related question -- feels like the pump is still pushing a fair amount when it hits the steering stops -- I wonder if this has contributed to the frame horn cracks I'm seeing? Is there any better way to put limits on the system?

Mike, my pump was doing the same, so much that I could see the front end shifting.
I made the steering brace and have not had any problems thus far.

You could actually see the drivers side frame rail start to twist if I tried to steer beyond the stops. The brace totally eliminated that. ;)
