Thanks guys for the compliments, this was a two year project - still a few things left to do. Here's some pics of the build up and interior.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG]

I have an Air-top pop up camper that mounts to the top, although for the record - i am NOT a fan of camping. Still to add - second battery, inverter, fridge/freezer, and skid plate. We wanted to make sure there were no issues or leaks before we mounted the skid plate - it's a piece of 5/8 aluminum sheet that attaches to the frame and extends from the engine to just aft of the tranny. I've had it on the road about 2 weeks, it's a kick to drive.

Great looking Jeep. Really like the fenders too. Took me a few seconds to figure out why they looked different, but the same.

IRQVET, he's right around the corner from you.

So with how much wheelbase did you come up?

Sretching the rear always been in my mind.

Thanks again guys. I appreciate the compliments/critique.

If you look at the picture of Rob's jeep (above), nice looking jeep Rob, and you compare the front fenders, doorway, and rear wheel well - you can see what we did to mine.

IRQVET, Posimoto is right - I am just over the hill from you. I live between Napa and Yountville. That's my buddy's shop in the pictures, but I have a pretty well stocked shop too. PM your contact info.

Wheelbase is 108" center to center. We tacked the 2 x 4 frame, put the front and rear ends at 108, and stretched the body to see if all the components would fit and how it would look. I had 3 jeeps to work with, 2 M38A1's and an early CJ.

Wow 108" center wheel to center wheel, that mean almost 26-28" inch more. Where did you get all this strech using a early jeep ?

From the photos is hard to see 108".......unless like you say you start looking at the stretch in the rear.........love to see a dead on 90 degree shot from the side. Also your wheel well lips in the body in the rear.......is that a formed panel like Classic sells?
Like to also see the inside from the front seat back and your aluminum tubs..............always nice to see creative minds at work and no question you guys definitely had your thinking caps on while you nibbled away on this Jeep.............Very Nice!

I don't think I have any pictures of the cut sections, but Shawn might. If you look at the picture of Rob's jeep and draw two lines perpendicular to the flat part of the door opening - the first one as far forward as possible, and the second as far aft as possible - that's where we made the cuts. The front clip was cut at the aft line, the second body/tub was cut at the forward line, and the two were mated. Then it was just a matter of finding two similar locations on the aft wheel wells to fit the axle spacing. The side panels were rolled out of 3/16 sheet aluminum, they extend from the door opening to the tailgate. The "lips" on the rear panels are not a kit - I rolled those out of 3/16 aluminum - just like the panels. They were riveted together, then riveted to the body. The local body shop took care of the rest.

Really nice looking Jeep, Rob.

p38: 108", that's awesome. Kinda like the Bronco too. Always wanted an Early Bronco, just can't afford another toy.

1974 CJ5 with the 304. You guys have some amazing jeeps. I hope mine will look half as nice one day. Currently working on a full restore but no pics of that yet. Still kinda trying to troubleshoot an electrical issue. Have to jump start it every start and after driving/letting it run, it won't start after it's turned off again. Alternator tested good, battery tested good...must have a hot wire somewhere or something. Probably just gonna start fresh with a new wiring harness. Thanks. I'm in central Pennsylvania, though the jeep spent most of it's life in Colorado when we lived there.

Here's a couple more pictures.

First test drive.
I'll try to find some before and after shots of the same side/view to better show the cut and splice. When it stops raining I will roll it out of the garage and take some side view shots with a tape measure on it to show dimensions.
