how mutch do you have to mod on the axles or frame to get them to fit or are the spring perches the same i can get a really good deal on the set of 44s from a 60s j10

the j10 axles are very wide for a flattie.

I would think that at minimum you would have to outboard the spring hangers. Also you'll have to regear since the j-tucks generally had poor ratios that would kill an l-head.

Those are Waggy axles, aren't they? J-truck axles are even wider.

The rear is a Jtruck, the front is a Cherokee chief, the rear use to match the front until I spun the tubes and bent the housing

A wide-track Cherokee (model 17) front is the same width as a J-10 front, so they are essentially J-truck axles. The J-10 rear is wider than the Cherokee rear by an inch or two - enough so that a 4x8 sheet will fit between the rear wheel wells, supposedly. The J-truck is one of the few vehicles where the rear track is wider than the front - most are the reverse.

If you want to go really wide like that, you might instead look for J-20 axles. These will be 8-lug D60 rear, HD D44 front, same track widths. The ratios will be better; J-20s will have 3.73 or 4.09 axles and the J-10s are almost all 3.54 (before 1980).

Not much difference between the J-truck axles and other full-size pickup axles, I'd think. Any of these are very wide for a CJ.

BTW the AMC Corporate M23 axle from the 1980-on full-size vehicles is a fine axle, correcting most of the faults with the M20 used in the CJ. The M23 is fully comparable to a D44, in some ways better/stronger. Axles from a Wagoneer or a narrow track Cherokee (model 18) are a common pick for use in a trail Jeep. Still wide, but at least part of the tires will be under the fenders.

    The definition of a bargain:

Something that you don't really need, but at a price that you can afford.

Remove ring and pinion, install in one-piece axle?

Seriously, I presume these are D44s? There's not a lot else you can do with them other than use them as is. At least AFAIK.

If it's from the 60s, it will be closed knuckle. Are you thinking about the knuckle stud treatment?

    No attitude noted.

I recall Jim (jpflat2a) writing that the AMC Corporate 20 (the M20) benefits from frequent tightening of the axle nut. I expect the same is true of any nutted axle.
