Ok this is really stupid but...
    I have a chance to go get a running '70 buick 350 for 75.00.

And I am struggling with putting it in my Jeepster.

I have a 225 stock motor in it now which I have cleaned up and replaced all the seals Hei, rebuilt carb, ect.
    Good compression.
    Havnt driven it yet.
    I have a sm420 in it.
    New clutch ect.

Probably would be fine but the V8 rumble calls.

I was thinking a Buick 350 would be good because it would bolt in pretty much.

Should I do it or just run the V6.
maybe keep the 350 on the back burner for replacement?

    Or just forget it?

I say go with the Buick 350
I have one in my CJ6 and it was a fun engine swap and a blast to drive.
Have a friend in Texas that did one in a Jeepster.
The hardest thin to locate would be a Manual flywheel because not many Buicks used an manual trans, but you can by new$$$

Which flywheel does it use? If I have an auto 350, can I bolt on a 225 Dauntless flywheel?

    Been researching.
    And it only weighs 450:)
Their built square so they have a low flat torque curve. hmmm.
I know the motor mount match and the dissy is in front.
    I havnt done exaugst yet.
The 225 flywheel will bolt on not sure about the balance issue anybody?
Do the cranks have a pilot hole?
    its a auto now.
with a aluminum intake it wouldnt be much more than the 225 for weight it seems.

    How are they for heat?

    Im gonna say forget it.

Not because I don't think a 350 would be nice in the Jeepster, and Not because I think the 225 is the best motor also.

Its more along the lines if your thinking on doing any kind of motor swap I would be inclined to look at a 4.3 or a newer FI unit.

    again thats my opnion.

    I respect that Dave.
    Infact I have a 4.3 also.TBI and all.

    I know this is stupid.

I have been watching alot of the Ultimate adventure dvd's LOl
And you can hear the V8's and the hotrodder in me just gets a chill.

The more I read the more that 350 looks like a keeper.

Anybody driven both the 350 and the 225 have an opinion.

The 350's used in the Gladiators and Wagoneers were rated at 230 HP @ 4,400 and 350 lbs.ft. @ 2,400 I believe. These were Gross figures though...

It'll never see the road so I can't say what it's like to drive on the street but mine works darn fine in my snowplow Jeepster :D. Geeze, I forgot to add my two cents worth, get another Jeepster and drop the 350 into it.

Buy it whether you need it or not. Hate to see it lock up. Autozone flywheel pioneer fw--100. Once emailed marshall motors and a guy checked 4 long blocks - all had pilot holes.

Good deal for 75 bucks, but..... My 225 runs fine- good on gas. Remember, gas will be back to 5 per gal again, so mileage should be a consideration also if you are planning on wheeling this rig very much
