    I opted out from installing my own glass and payed a local glass place to do it for $20.00. When I heard what he would charge I figured it was worth it.

    Thought occurs -- Since the windshield frame is removable (with the original hinges anyway) just pop it off and take it into the garage or house or someplace more comfortable and just do it there at your liesure.
