Last night I removed the plow set up as I sold it to Jacob (Jeepfreak81). Been sparying the cylinders with PB blaster but as of last night no luck yet :(

Going to pick up a WT 30 later today and throw the knuckles on a NT 30 housing to put up front for now to get some turning radius.

I also picked up a 70's waggy 44 front that I am going to narrow to 54" wms for the front. I got a spare 44 rear that I hope has the same gears as the rear 44 in the willys so I can use them in the front housing. I will have some pics to follow.

The 4bt came with either a Th400, T18/19 (ford bell housing pattern) or a Sm465 behind them. The later two being great swaps for a flatty as they both have short adapters for the dana 18/20.

im interested in the axle ideas. where did you get the nt/wt 30's from? and how hard is it to resize the 44? do you get a blank shaft that works for a 54" axle? or does somebody make one to fit? thanx for the trany info it'll help.

late 70's up to 81 for disc brake NT 30 (51.5" wide)
    82-86 for WT 30's (56" wide)

I built a 44 before so I am doing this one pretty much the same.

    74-79 waggy front 44 (60" wide stock)
keep the short side stock (14.69" which is .55" longer than a NT 30 shaft)
long side gets cut down 5.25" to match a long side Early Bronco axle shaft (27.94" which is .93" longer than a NT 30 shaft)

So it ends up 54-55" wide (close to WT width) and the spring will fit on the cast in spring perch on the passenger side, although you will have to redrill/elongate the spring hole 3/8" to the outside.

All said in done all stock length shafts, WTish width bolt in SUA 44 front .

For now I will be running wheel spacers on the rear but down the road I have plans to build a Full float 44 rear that will match the width of the front.

I find that hard to believe... The hot rod guys were talking about flathead v8's with trany fluid, break fluid, oil, kerosene, diesel, thinner, but not coke (coca cola right?) I think it would be one big sticky mess...

Sounds like a great idea! Tasty too!! 8)

Seriously, the phosphoric acid will probably make fairly short work of the rust.
    Good tip!! :)

BTW, Hubjeep over on JU has pulled the Nissan diesel out of his CJ7 (he installed it some years back) and is in process of installing a 4BT... you should get in touch with him.

    Still haven't got the F-head unfroze :(

This weekend I am picking up some stubs for the 44 front, but the best thing is a rebuilt Sm465 with the novak 1" adapter for the 18/20 installed :D

We got the motor unstuck in this tonight, just was in a weird spot with 2 at the full up and 2 in the full down positions, topped off with a decent ridge in a couple of the cylinders.

We used a breaker bar and carefully turned it over, then I used my ridge reamer on the top of the bore and then honed the cylinder lightly... I think it will run well, the cylinders were clean otherwise very minor rust

Picked up a Sm465 adapted to the dana 18 and a hydro clutch setup, some alloy stubs and stock inners for the front 44, a early 5 roll bar, and a 225 bell housing

Picking up a 225, swinging pedals, a tilt cj column, and some big brake parts tomorrow and Thursday getting a 71 one piece flanged rear 44 with 3:73's.

Not going to do the diesel as I have enough projects R)R)R)

    So specs will be:
    225
    sm465
    twin sticked 18
    71 44 rear
    44 front
    saggy swap
    hanging pedals
tilt column (so I can fit my big gut in there )

After that is done a small suspension lift and 33-34" tires
