At least you know what the problem is. Now you can look at solutions to fix it.

kinda what I was thinking. There are more symptoms I haven't mentioned that may lead to a different conclusion. When I start the Jeep in the morning I have to give it gas or it will die, kinda like a carb with no choke. It seems that it's not going into Open Loop by default when cold. I haven't been able to pull codes from the computer either, comes up nothing stored during tests.
I talked to the mechanic that did the install yesterday and rehearsed all the problems/conditions (he's 4 hours away or it'd be in his shop) and he said he was going to order a new computer on Monday for PU on Tuesday. Everything has been replaced......sensors/wiring/computer/dizzy/coil .........all new

Does this new info add light? .....I'll tell you my head hurts after considering how much time , effort, and money has gone into this conversion

This is why I like carbs, I can fix anything that may go wrong with one. :)

definitely took him off guard when I walked up :)........he didn't have the computer and said he'd send it Monday.....I said, uh I'm here now (he had a week to get it). He left and returned with a different Mass Air Meter and another computer, but apparently this other computer didn't have a working fuel pump relay. He asked me to try the M A Meter first, then try the other computer and run power to the fuel pump to test whether it was indeed the Computer. If in fact it was a bad brain he would send the new one this week.

I put this new MA meter in with the existing ECU and went for a 10-15 mile drive .....stop n go......seems to run great now ( Patrick you were right about the meter )..........I'll get somemore miles on it, but I think the problem is solved

finally having the motor running correctly has allowed me to tinker with other problems/situations. One of these was the clutch (brand new) it's been slipping a bit under load. First I accessed the pressure plate through a small hole in the bell housing. The bolts were loose enough that I could move the lock washers with a screwdriver ......I expanded the bell hole a bit and removed the bolts one at a time, I added a flatwasher and locktite and cinched them all down again, Next I took the clutch arm off and began trying to rework the linkage (thanks to "sdcj6 "Ray) for his input. After several attempts I finally got the correct ratio to get a easy pedal
I added a return spring to the clutch fork and all seems good now........this thing has the get up and go that brings a grin each time I take it out now R).
I had to move my fuse panel for clutch space, think I shorted out my radio ....gonna mess with remount and fuse checks tomorrow

Ok I remounted the fuse panel up higher which really helped to clearance the wiring from the hanging pedal assembly. I found one bad fuse from last nights light show, apparently didn't lose any magic smoke :)
Here's a shot of the accesss hole I made in the bell housing

gonna need to make a cover plate and drill and tap to the bell.........
all seems good for Kahuna R)

the trip through the Rubicon in 08 destroyed my fender flares, when I got back I installed these rubber universal units
    [IMG]
I've never been happy with them however, they don't hold their shape well, and the lip over the tub always slipped down on them allowing mud in.
    I removed them yesterday
    [IMG]
I drive through mud in the nursery every day so without the flares I get a pretty good bath otherwise I'd leave them off.
At the swap meet a few weeks ago I purchased a NOS set of Crowne Ind. units, they're heavy duty and wider than either I've had so far......got em installed last night........really, really like the way they install and look

time will tell how they hold up

having some issues with my clutch......when I engage the clutch and feather it off a bit to creep (at a drive through, backing out of the garage etc)then engage it again....it isn't engaging............hafta let off the pedal the full travel or your in gear :(....little disconcerting at a light. Got a call into the manf., we'll see what they say
Spent a couple hours updating the first year plus of this thread with pics from my photobucket acct., hopefully it'll be easier to follow the money pit that is "Kahuna" :D:rofl::rofl:

i cant belive i just sat here and read 58 pages of Kahuna. its like a book that never ends, but i guess that can be said about any jeep project. I wish i had your skills and tools. I could do a lot more a lot quicker. or just a shop, that would help too.:D awesome thread man, i really enjoyed reading it and look forward to keeping up in the future.

CNC out of San Diego is the manf. of my hydro clutch setup. After a call last week they sent a master rebuild kit (no charge). I rebuilt the clutch master this weekend and installed/bled it last night. Clutch now works great!
I made this bracket to bolt around my steering column and to the dash
    [IMG]
much more solid now, and no up and down movement of the column.
Gonna replace/repair the pressure hose on the PS today, it's been leaking a bit for quite awhile
