Hmmm... looking decent, put it to a test todayin a stop and go cruise... shooting steam like crazy out the overflow, but seems the hottest it got was 240.... I need to put a better gauge on it.

I just want to say how much I'm enjoying looking at all the work you've done. It gives me inspiration to move my own project forward. By the way, is that a hole in your engine block in the last picture? Also, what kind of welder are you chaps using? I only have a small stick welder and am getting bad results because I can't find any rods smaller than 2.6mm.

    Cheers,
    Adam in Thailand

Yes the first 225 I put in threw a rod through the side of the block, so there is a hole in that one. There is a newer motor in it now from a 71 Jeepster.

I have used a 110 Lincoln Mig (wire feed) welder almost exclusively on this project. For things like the hitch and steering box frame extension we have used a Miller DVI 220 Mig (wire feed) welder. We have used .030 or .035 flux core wire for the whole project.

    Thank you for the compliments!

<It will be a around town toy/ mild trail wheeler just to have some fun in, smiles per mile. when I saw the tub was rotten I figured fun is better then accuracy>
As a newbie I have been trying for accuracy but have been forced to accept that my CJ is just not the correct base material so I will follow your example and have fun with it!

Today was the first time I have seen the effects of the flatty on people.

I have a lot of car people in my family, my one uncle sells BMW's and high end restorations on ebay, another restored an old 56 Ford tow truck, and another has had many resto-mod hot rods in his possession and still does.

TodayI drove the jeep as is to my family reunion, and tossed the keys to no less then 3 people while I was there so they could drive it around the park. EVERY one of them came back grinning ear to ear...

where did you get the front LED turn signal lights? Those look like 2 inch diameters and the rears are 4 inchers?

The front are 2" IIRC orange Tractor Trailer running lamps. The jeep isn't required to have turn signals so I used them. They are not intended to be dual brightness for flashing, however a friend of mine designed a system with diodes, and resistors that allow them to flash -- I just need to get the proper flasher unit now. The rears are just harbor freight specials. I will likely swap them out for nicer ones in the future, but they do look pretty good as is.

Looks great with the new(ish) tires! :)
Jerry can looks a bit low from a safety point of view... if you ever got rear ended, the fact that its covering your bumper might make it the first point of impact

EVERY person has said that... as high as vehicles sit now-days even if it was on the tailgate I would be screwed. Oh well I'm not changing it, they put them in worse spots 60 years ago.

Adam got a new toy (plasma cutter) so it gave us a reason to work on a ton of other stuff that we haven't been able to since I was out of $$ to get torch gas.

The loops for the trailer chains -- courtesy of an old TJ swaybar.

The towbar mount/D-ring mounts, connected to the frame, the bumper is just a cover.

Beefed up the front frame, when we got it all apart you could tell the left front frame rail was moving -- pretty certain this was the cause of the 'wandering'

New 1/4" angle iron crossmember, also serves as a mount for the d-ring/towbar mounts.

First "real" load for the trailer, going to go burn it all at my parents property today.

Now to figure out why it's getting 'loose' on deceleration. I think it is the spring bushings.

I will run them (the skinnies) 90% of the time. With the side hanging spare it was a PITA to do the body work/sanding as I had to take it off. These will be just the wheeling tires eventually. I have to get the motivation to do the body work now though :( It is kind of nice working the mechanical kinks out first before I make it look pretty, then next spring it will be all ready to go.

I have just been enjoying the jeep this summer, I figure I will tear it apart for body work in the coming cold months.

Yesterday I traded off my 33x12.5's and chrome rims, for what I wanted originally. I had the original rims that I needed to cut the almost original tires off of...

These are what we had to cut top one being the worst.
