I have 2 new fenders to go on there. The other ones were hacked up too much to fix.

Yep, before 1976, the Jeep radio for CJs hung below the dash. Any radio cutout in a pre-76 Jeep has been put there by the PO.

The location to the left of the driver (near/on the yellow sticker) works well. That's how I had my '75 CJ-6 set up. The passenger can't reach the radio there though.

    slight hijack...

    Tim,

Where were the intermediate's speakers located on a factory radio? I'm assuming the 'maniac with a drill bit' setup on my dash isn't factory.

Must be nice to be working outside in January on a realativly rust free Jeep. It is snowing here in Indiana and my rust bucket is in the cold uninsulated garage. Looks likeyou are doing a nice job and moving along pretty fast. One thing that I had forgotten;--- the tool box was still under the seat in 74 Nice job!

There was only an AM factory radio AFAIK, and the speaker was mounted in the metal radio cabinet facing downward. Strictly a bolt-on accessory.

My neighbors all ask me for a ride in my JEEP. I guess I'm lucky. All your pics are great. Keep up the good work.

A few more progress pics. Got the gas tank, brake lines and starter back in. I was able to put the body back in place and put a few of the body mounts back in place as well. Body shouldn't be coming off again at this point.

I am going to do the body work and leave it in primer til the spring when it is warm enough to paint it. I am hoping to have it reassembled and running in the next couple of months.

    Tim,
I have the original AMC AM radio in mine. It is installed in the dash. If it was not factory then the dealer must have installed it.

Looks good. You work fast, makes me feel shame.

OT - I think you interviewed one of my good friends today for a contract position. I had shown him your pics last week - small world.

    Bardp,
I did interview him. We started talking about Jeeps and I mentioned I was working on a 74 CJ5 and he said a friend of his just moved to Concord and had a 74. I thought it might be you. Very small world.

I just found a 1973 CJ-5 in a fence row...this is my first REAL Jeep. This restore gives me good incentive. It's thawing in my garage right now. Can't wait to start wrenching on it!!!!

    Thanks for the pics.

I hope she turns out to be a Jeeper. Someone needs to ride around with me in this thing.
