    Hi all,
Looks like the intro/project thread I had going is gone. The project is a 74 CJ5 with 232 and 31 AT's. I am planning a basically stock rebuild. So here is a new thread with some overall progess pics.

    As of Oct 22nd 2006

First step was to strip it to the frame

Then clean it up and paint the frame

Engine is a recent rebuild so it was a matter of cleaning and painting the drivetrain.

Next up was repairing the floors and body mounts.

Some major body repairs where the spare tire used to mount

    Bed Lining the interior

    Starting body work and paint

The plan is to be back on the road by April/May 2007.

So far I took off the 38's and when to 33's. Did the spring over axle reversal. Now brakes if I can find all the parts.

If you need an extra set of hands around the garage, just shoot me a PM. It looks like I could learn a lot.

Will do. Might need an extra set of hands when it comes time to put the body back on.

Looking good, do your neighbors enjoy the smell when you are painting? I know my wife sure complains!

My wife complains about the stinky garage. My neighbors don't complain becuase I am the first one they go with car troubles, broken lawnmowers and anything that requires tools.

Progress looks good! Good picture of the dash plate, too. Is it factory layout with all the cutouts? If it is, maybe you should take a front on shot so everyone with a question of what one looks like can see yours!

That's sweet! The '74's are near & dear to my heart, my first vehicle (at age 16) was a '74 CJ5 with the 304V8, had a blast fixing it up & driving it all through high school & the first year of college. Keep the pictures coming!

LostDawg, it looks stock other than the radio cutout. Not sure about that. It looks like it was hacked in there to me. I am going to put a block off plate over it for now and will probably install a radio later.

Yeah, I wasn't sure of '74's, my '73 is solid where you have your radio cutout, but at least it looks nice. The PO of mine hacked out a radio spot where the sticker goes (lower left) so no sticker on mine.:(
BTW, what are your plans for the front fenders? It looks as if they were modified for oversized tires?

    I like the green '74 CJ5 Renegade.
Looks like someone down there lifted your windshield wipers.
