Started on this job last night. The kit is really easy to work with and very well marked. Seems very overwhelming at first but gets easier as you go along. Not sure if I should hi-jack this thread with a few things I found or start a new one, but I know someone will let me know.

Since I wasn't told not to here goes.

Seems I am not the first to re-wire this one.

I have a light blue and yellow wire coming from the left frt turn signal and a yellow and dark blue from the right frt signal. Can't seem to find a ground wire. Do they ground to the housing? Also I'm thinking yellow running light, blue turn signal. Anyone know?

Let the questions begin, I am sure this is the first of many!

    Thanks

Here are a couple of pics under the dash before I rip it all out.

Today's accomplishments and a couple of questions.

On the brake lights. There is a block near the front with 2 terminals and one near the M/C with 2 terminals. Is one power and one not. It seems I need to run the "brake power" wire to it and then to the lights?

Anyone have a wiring diagram for the dimmer switch?
    Thanks,

    More progress. It runs!!!

    Small problem:
I am trying to wire the headlight switch as shown below in the picture from the wiring diagram found here. Sitting in drivers seat facing forward, I then run the Dimmer power to the right side of the dimmer switch, headlights to center and high beam/high beam indicator to left.

With the lights on the turn signals do not work and the running lights are very bright.

    Any help!!!!

I have accomplished the following between last night and a little time this afternoon:
    Headlights - high & low
Running lights - frt & rear
Turn Signals - frt & rear

I still have 1 question on the headlight switch though. There is 1 terminal on the left that power goes to on the first pull (running lights) second pull, but not when it is all the way out? Very odd!

Off to tackle the brake lights!

    Brake Light Help

On the EZ wire kit I have the "brake light power" wire going through the head light switch, where does it come out of the fuse box? The "brake switch wire" is not hot? Thinking about running a hot wire to the inline brake switch and then back through the signal wires at the GM steering harness. Or can I just run the "brake light power" to the inline brake switch?

Any opinions or has someone gone through this with EZ Wire kit?

    Thanks as always.

Called EZ Wire tech, very helpful.

Does it matter which side the 12v goes to on the brake pressure switch? Thinking I may have a bad switch. This whole re-wiring job pretty much started because my brakes kept blowing fuses.

    Thanks

12V to either side of a pressure switch.

Great day! Between working and running around I plumbed the new switch (lunch hour) and actually have brake lights. Since I installed a new M/C in Nov it has a port for the brake switch on it. I ended up using the new switch there. Just have under the dash left, hopefully tonight between running kids to events.

    Progress report:
I have the entire job completed except the gauge lights and tachometer. Not much room between the seats and the roll bar to lay on my back and get up under the dash. I finally layed down on the seats and stuck my head up under the dash, what a pain in the neck...literally. There were wires to the gauges from the PO and a bunch of original wires also.
Per the tech folks at EZ Wire, that were great to deal with, I am going to remove my AMP Meter also. I am running a 120 amp alt. and they told me it would eventually melt the meter or all the wires under the dash.
Like a number of folks here said this seems like a pretty big undertaking but was surprisingly simple. The kit was great and as long as you take your time, use simple logic and follow the instructions on the kit it should go well. I think the fact that I have a GM steering column made it even easier.
Someone here said to remove everything and start fresh. I totally agree with this for the under dash section. When it came to head and tail lights I left the wires in place and traced them to an origination or followed colors when I could. This seemed to help somewhat by giving me a guide to the wires going into specific lights etc....
The best part is the mess under the dash is gone. I always worried about a fire under there when I was in the middle of nowhere. Not fun to have a fried rig pulled out of a trail.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for input and encouragement and as always to this great site!

    Hopefully my final update.

I replaced the tach last night and it now works. Put in a new volt gauge in place of the amp meter. The only thing I can't figure out are a few dash lights. I bought new bulbs for 2 aftermarket gauges, oil/temp. I get power to the outlets but lights do not work. I tried running a bulb to the + side of battery and grounded the bulb, it works. Any ideas? The tach, volt gauge and original dash lights in speedo cluster are all working.
