"EZ Wire 12 comes with the proper connections for a GM steering column if that's what you're suggesting getting from a junkyard?

I replaced my turn signal switch while I was at it. EZ Wire had both style plugs included."

Just for clarification. If I order the EZ 12 circuit kit it will have what I need included for the GM steering column. Correct?

The harness to broken down into 3 sections, front, rear and the dash. Rip out all of the old wiring harness and go one item at a time and its done sooner than you think.

    Good luck.

X2 on all thats been said. I've rewired sections before and will never do it again. I've got the EZ harness setting in my garage right now along w/ a dual relay(headlights) and enough adhesive lined heat shrink tubed terminals(Mcmaster-Carr is a good source) to do it up right. I have looked the harness over w/ a critical eye and can't find anything wrong w/ it. I am actually looking forward to the job. IMO paying the extra $300+ dollars for a painless harness is just throwing your money away.:v6:

I recommend leaving the dash wires about a foot longer than what you need, in case you need to drop the dash.

Is the EZ Wiring kit the same as the EZ2 Wire kit? I spotted the EZ2 Wire kit on Ebay along with the upgraded version called Kwik wire. Kwik wire is all 8 gauge wire in GM color code with wires marked as to application and compatible to GM columns.
Not trying to hijack just thought it may be an option if it is a different kit.

Just checking on EZ wire website and I noticed the 12 circuit is all black wires. I was checking Ebay and the mini 12 has colored wires. Does it make a difference?

Difference? The colored wires are easier to sort out, what's the 12 kit you refer too?

I went ot the EZ Wie web site and I was checking out the EZ 12 kit. It shows all black wires. The mini kit shows it with colored wires. This will be my first try and I want to make sure it goes smoothly and is as easy as possible.

What's the difference besides the color of the wires then? Both are 12 circuit, right?

Yes both seem to be the same. By the looks of the pictures one has all black wires and the mini one has colored. The mini uses the small new style fuses and the all black uses the old style.

Oh! Heck, does the fuse size really matter?

I'd go with the mini for the colored wires alone.

That is how I am leaning right now. Since this will be my first attempt I figure I will need to use the "KISS" principle. Picked up some good wire strippers yesterday, just need to bite the bullet and get the kit.

When I went to buy the EZ wire, I wanted the black kit because it used the old fuses which were more common at gas stations and such. I ended up getting the mini fuse box with the colored wires because they were out of the regular. It makes it a little easier to install, but a whole lot easier to trace and find problems. I didn't even wrap the harness, I put a 4" zip tie every 5 inches or so. I highly reccommend it. Electrical problems are 10x simpler to solve.
