I know they are the same spline and fit, but is there any bad things to come about to use a Dana 18 yoke on a pinion? Also the dust shield, if i am not mistaken can be pulled off the Tcase yoke. right?

I can't remember exactly, but I think somewhere in my past I've done this. I know I've used one on a front axle, but I had to make a small spacer to go between the yoke and pinion nut to maintain the pinion bearing preload.

As long as the yoke you're installing has the same length seal surface and spline depth (measured from bottom of yoke to where pinion nut seats) you should be fine.
