So whats the little access cover on the side by the t-case sticks? Is that to get at the pivot for the levers?

Jim I like your transmission shifter boot a little better than Patricks, you wouldn't happen to know where you got it and possibly what it was for exactly. I asked Patrick to post pics cause I have no shift boots and I saw his transfercase one at Tellico and liked it, besides I live in the south, its getting hot out and with me being in shorts when I drive my jeep most of the time, my right leg looks funny with the burnt hair on it.:D

I thought that access plate was to get at the shifter pivot, isn't the check/fill hole further back? When I swapped to a T18 that moved the shifters back relative to the access hole. Now it's good for nothing!

Forgot to add my tcae shifters have some custom bends. Shown is 2wd hi. 4lo puts them angled slightly back and right next to each other. Od is out in the pic and when in it is next to the straight up stick. This all helps me remember.........

Not with a t14 and a single stick, it probably was designed that way on a t90 and twin stick but for the other set up you can check the fluid level and fill it thru that little hole.;)

Ok Greg I like the shift boot for your transmission also, whats it from?

Hows this look, had a little time to search and this is a Mr Gasket unit made to fit a 5 1/2" hole, its $17.99 at Jegs part number 720-1651. Advance auto has it locally for $20.99, might have to go look at it tommorrow or friday.

FWIW, that access cover is no where near the t case fill on my Jeep. It is, however, where I get to the twin stick pivot pin grease zerk.....

I do like some of the other (round base) tranny boots better. I just happened to find that one at the Zone for 9 bux right after I put the t14 in....

    correct, for pivot pin removal.
a PO many many moons ago had driven a large chisel thru the floor there; looked like a can opener had opened it up. I just cleaned up the hole and made a cover for it.
Trans boot is IH large truck; t/case boot is.......hmmm.....seems to me IH also for early Scout twin sticks

I got my boot off ebay from a guy marketing it as a Cobra kit car boot. I asked for dimensions and he was very exact. Think I paid 24.00 for it. Maybe kinda high but having a shift boot that was pleasing to my eye was a high priority. I searched and THINK I found the same one BUT NOT SURE. Now it is selling with a trim ring. I would measure my mounting area and diameter of the stick and ask the seller for those measurements. Notice in the add he includes some measurements, he started including those when I asked him, that's been at least 2-3 years ago (if its the same guy?!)

The tcase boot is the common aftermarket one that is available from several sources. I think there is a guy on ebay that sells it with a custom stainless trim ring. I made an aluminum one for mine and put it "inside" the boot, the bottom lip of the boot turns in on itself to form a pocket.

for the tcase I found a boot on a forklift, but it more or less is just slipped over the shifter, isn't secured to the floor. Because of it's location there really isn't room for a boot, it is very close to the tcase shifter when it is engaged.

Forgot to add I found the boot to be very good quality, and there are mounting holes which can be seen from the bottom, they are "skinned over" on the top and just need trimmed out with a xacto knife. They are unevenly spaced so once installed it only goes on one way, which I like.

Ok sorry not my transfercase, but it does line up with my transmision fill hole, I just slide a tube in there and fill thru the floor.

Dunno, my t14 has the fill on the driver side.......
And the front output on the transfer would be right between that access hole and the trans... Hmm, Mike, can you get a pic? I'm trying to figure out what's different about yours.....
