I recall the cracks are common. Maybe they are related to flex, maybe not. If you do a lot of trail driving and get flexed out, you'll get buckling in the body steel in the door areas too.

A '74 has the soft round pucks everywhere.

Why do you think the toe-board support is bad? No question the toe-board supports are there for a reason, maybe to better couple the body to the frame, maybe to support the body generally. Certainly Jeep put them there for a reason. Or maybe you mean it's rusted away? If so, the body would bend less, and you'd see fewer problems with the body, I'd think.

Sorry to resurrect it then... I just saw allot of posts about searching, which I tried to do a few different ways... and this thread was the only one with picts. of the toe board...
As to my reference to "bad" I meant rusted and worn & missing... not as a design...

There was a time when I wheeled the CJ farrrr more than maintained it, the front fender cracking has always bothered me and I wasn't sure of the reason.
Now that I might revive the CJ I'd like to address the reason why, whether I actually fix the fenders or not.
