I had all 4 wheels balanced; first time in 10 years since I first bought the aluminum 5-slots and BFG MTs from a guy on eBay.
With the new engine, I can run 70 MPH now. This won't be routine however. With 4:88 gears, the engine is screaming at about 3600 RPM.
But since I flat tow at normal highway speeds (rear shaft disconnected), this will work much better for cross country treks. :ninja:

new pushrods and HV oil pump kit from TA performance arrived this week.

New 'made in india' crown motor mounts arrived from Morris 4X4... paint quality sucks, crappy flat-black or a parkerized feeling material, I may re-do with shake-n-shoot. Kept my old ones for comparison (they have cracks / tears otherwise I'd not have bothered). the new ones feel solid... time will tell.

Set out to install pushrods. done.

Started to install manifold ... where the eff did my intake manifold gaskets (FELPRO MS9943) go?!?! tear garage apart... bright blue, hard to miss, assume they were in an empty gasket box I was sure I checked and tossed...

Sooooo.... rather than visit flaps to place an order, as I've got meetings all week that will keep me pretty much in the home office, online I went...

ordered my missing $12 felpro manifold gaskets, and to 'get free shipping', I added a few things I'd been eyeballing for a while: Stewart Warner 'deluxe model' 6000 RPM tach, and some 2 1/16" black-bezel deluxe gauges to match: SW oil pressure (5 to 100), SW ammeter (+/- 60), SW voltmeter, SW temp gauge, a stainless braided oil pressure kit, Summit 12si 100A alternator (black w/ chrome pully, as we all need more chrome like more cowbell) and a few other odds and ends. Summit says they will be here by Tuesday...

On other things, Murphy visited my paint shack...
A fender I'd just primed last week with epoxy primer fell from my hangers... minor dings and scrapes. have some more priming to do, so this will get a scuff and fix when I'm ready to prime some other parts, namely the tub... I have a lot of sanding to do there first.

    After inspecting other parts:
Found some thin spots on other parts I primed... noted for later (quick scuff to with 200g to highlight it). I decided against finish paint right away as I'm not ready to put the body on yet, was down with back spasms for a few days, don't have that much contiguous time to work on it, and I keep finding piddly detail things to fix after I shoot some primer, and I would rather scuff and sand and think I'm ready for paint than scratch my finished product in storage over the next month or so, easier to patch primer than finish being my thought...

Did 2 things today, one, I made a winch cover (just a little short)

and 2, got started plugging the rust holes.

Since I have decided not to do a frame off restoration this year, I thought I would try out some weld epoxy. When I do the restoration, probably in three years I can report on how well it stood up.

had problem with the tbi injector pod, the fuel inlet had some leak due to damaged thread on the fiting.

Also on injector was leaking bad due to a bad o ring.

Ended by changing the whole set-up, a friend of mine gave me the part and everything is been running good since :)

Put on turbine hub caps on my Tux. I know they are not period correct for my '66 Tux but I think they look pretty good for now till I can find an original set.

Threw a new tc into the J-tow. I blew up the last one. I have never seen gears in a 20 blow up like that before. I cant believe it was still moving. Pulled in the 6 project that I got because it had an offset flanged rear axle. Probably should have passed on it all together. Gonna be a everything but the frame and tub replacement build.

Today, I just washed the Jeep early, after camping this Thursday into Friday. We pulled (and dragged a lot) our camper (68 Aristocrat Lo-Liner) up to a pond to fish and relax. It stormed like crazy. Going to do a spring over and add a new axle with 5 on 5.5 lug pattern to the lo liner. It won't be a lo-liner anymore.

Not a darn thing. Still waiting on carb restore. Should ship this week......we will see. When they say 2-3 weeks they mean 3, not counting return shipping time and it always runs a couple extra days on the bench.

    But getting antsy.
