I pressure washed the flatfender twice and hand washed it once. 2024 wheeling season assessment: can't find anything major. No frame cracks etc ( 2 beer laying underneath observation) The Rubicon gatekeeper ate the rear driveshaft slip boot
    IMG_20240825_143151352_HDR.jpg
The skid plate definitely did its job. I have a cross member revision, skid redesign in mind that will protect things better and net at least an inch more of clearance.
    IMG_20240825_143215590_HDR.jpg
Bent up a slider on the Rubicon got into the fender lip a little.
    IMG_20240825_143241715_HDR.jpg
Finally the right rear tried locking up on me. I thought perhaps it was a wheel bearing but fortunately just a broken adjuster cable and copious amount of mud / dirt no doubt from Italian Creek. Had a spare cable and the both sides got the pressure washer treatment ( and the squealing - grinding is gone along with trying to pitch me into the ditch)

An oil change, grease job, check the diffs, trans, tcase and call it good. I may get to the fuel injection and cross member but time to focus on the Panther for 2025 season.

Welp that got expensive quick...I went on a test drive and there was still an occasional screech up front. The CJ factory discs are known for caliper drag, figured I'd go through them. The driver side was uneventful. Pulled the wheel and caliper. Pressure washed and cleaned up all the sliding points with wire wheel. Reassembled with silicon spray where needed.
Passenger side jacked up the front and immediately saw there was wheel bearing play. Now as early as the Rubicon Tim said he thought my passenger tire had a little lean. That side has a camber shim and depending on how it's parked it can look funny. Well I have a roached inner bearing that welded itself to the spindle. The inner seal is gone the wheel studs were rubbing on the spindle bolts. The wheel hub itself is worn and toast too.
Too good to be true this chick would be a cheap date. Off to get some beer, hit the computer with the plastic ..

I was cleaning in the garage and found the windshield washer reservoir, but the pump spins but didn't pump. So amazon to the rescue. Installed the pump and now I have working windshield squirters :bananatool:

Tried again unsuccessfully to re-install the fuel pump on the 53 A1. Got the spacer block bolted in with grey gasket sealer so maybe it won't continue to fall down when I try to bolt up the pump. Replaced the broken fuel hose, but have to get the pump back on. The 64 A1 batteries are dead. Charger won't touch it. Left on the service light switch so it drained the batteries. Funny how both batteries Just together made 12V. The 12V/24V chargers didn't know what to do with them. Charger said Full, thinking it was a 12V system. Had to separate the batteries and charge them one at a time so I can use the 24V charger again. Had to use the voltmeter to figure that one out.
Funny how the simplest things can trip you up.

Never had something so simple as installing a fuel pump give me so much trouble. Just can't hold all the pieces and get the bolts to thread. Would have been so much simpler if there were studs and just put a nut on it.
If you have a trick to hold the pump against the camshaft and get the bolts threaded, let me know.
I'll will get it! Still it is progress, just slow.

Dave .....Try just cutting a piece of wood to wedge against the pump & whatever is close , to hold it after you get it in place ??? I dunno ........ It's is often tough doing some jobs by oneself . You'll get it

Good idea! I chased the threads on the long and short bolt, so I know they will thread in without the pump. The spacer keeps getting all wonky and I can't get it threaded in and hold it also. I may try to cut a piece of 2X4 to wedge it in place and see if I can get them to take threads. Each time I think I've got it, the spacer comes lose and I start again.

I’ve hardly been home but a few days since this year’s Colorado trip. So today I moved a bunch of mud from the Jeep to the driveway.

Hopefully have the motivation to swap out the master cylinder tonight and get to drive it around town for the next few weeks.

So LocTite a couple studs in there. I've done it more than once. Fuel pump R&R is a pain on nearly any engine.
