I think turning around the picture might help.
I have one of the Bronze Thrust Washers spinning and easy to remove the other is stuck.
Can I or Should I press off the grit guard?
or is there a better way to remove Bronze Thrust Washer?
    Thanks Dawgy

If you remove the dust shield or as you called it the grit guard, you will most likely destroy it. I would not recommend that. Can you catch the edge of the thrust washer with a small punch or chisel? Can you apply a little heat via a torch to help break it free? Carefully heating the bronze up all the way around may get it to expand a little and break the bond.
