Personally I think Herm is a pretty good old guy that is knowledgeable on a variety of subjects ........and his heart at least with me anyhow seems to always be in the right place.......My personal feeling is that his business has grown to a point in Capacity that far exceeds his and his helps daily abilities to stay on top of. The old mantra I call growing pains! Which again in my eyes leaves no time for that most important part of business , the one line Item that is never billed nor directly mentioned on any invoice , that always assumed Item some call Service after Sale or Customer Service ,whereby in my eyes , no call nor e-mail should go unanswered any day regardless of time or place.

Not to say that you could not have that same unattended empty feeling for other companies equally sized or even 100 times bigger...............what I have come to learn early on was no matter how big or small the sale was ...........to the buyer it is the most important part of there life at that very moment!

No defense here for anyone nor am I condoning any poor business service or model.............Choice is the only thing that consumers have in there Wallet and that will always prevail.......

My motto in my Transportation Business is quite simple and I stand by it daily: "Since 1983 , Anything , Anytime , Anywhere , Professionally".

I agree, Terry. I have spoken to Herm on the phone several times and I agree that he is a very knowledgeable guy and quite personable. I have purchased many items from him in the past. Sometimes the ball gets dropped and people fall through the cracks. That said, after three contacts with him about this issue, I'm done. There is nothing that Herm is selling that I can't get somewhere else.

Well I do tend to ask the kind of questions that seemingly no one can answer.
As for doing business with Herm, I do buy parts from him very occasionally.
But I never farm work out to him; nor anyone else for that matter.
Good mechanics charge good money and I just can't afford that.
    A very few exceptions..
Sometimes it's much more cost effective to hire those with the right tools than to buy the required tools.
Sandblasting is a good example of that. Machine shop work is another.
That's about all the farmed out work I can think of.

So that brings us back full circle and back on topic.
Anymore whenever a man plans to install the AA tapered he needs someone to do the required machine work on the Intermediate gear.
It's the guys like Mcruff that we depend upon to fill particular voids in our capabilities.
    Long may he run !

Herm like many others in this tight knit little Jeep community has his own distinct niche to fill.
    Long may he run !

    Question for you guys,
How do you tell how tight the nut on the outside should be?
I think mine is too loose, but im not sure.

    Thank you,

The only way to know for sure is to pull the pan and check for play in the gearset. You adjust all the noticeable play out of the gearset. I bought a stop nut to replace the castle nut supplied by AA and use blue locktite as well.
