I just got this from some guy who says he had it for 15 years when he bought it in a pile of chevy parts. It is apparently NOS and supposed to be for a 231. Should i frame it and put it on the wall or try and stick it on my 225 or sell it or ...

there are no numbers anywhere on it to identify it. from an old offenhauser brochure it seems to be a "360 Equiflow", competition manifold. the part number for this assuming it IS a 231 oddfire is either part number 5713 (64-72 225) or(1975 231)(AFB or holley) or part number or 5714, same years for quadrajet or it could be part number 6169 (231 1976-1978). I KNOW at least one of you have this on your rig.

Will not work on later 231 heads with EGR outlets. The slot in the middle of the passenger side goes right where the opening is. Works great on all the odd-fire Buicks. I usually get $150 for them in that good of shape. If it hasn't ever been run, throw it on Ebay and see what you can get. As said above, the perfect manifold for a Holley 390 cfm 8007 carb.

Thanks a lot guys. I didn't see anywhere for EGR when I looked at it, But the guy did say it was for a 231 oddfire. That should mean that the ports should be different than the 225 heads.? You guys run them, the part numbers go from 64 to 75 which includes odd fire 225 and odd fire 231, but not the last years of the odd fire 231. I guess its because those last 1 1/2 or 2 years engines had EGR and not a design change in the engine itself but in the intake?

    thanks,
    Chris

A simple check to see if it is for a 225 or 231. Does it have the pcv valve hole in the back of the intake? It should be on the passenger side on the flat portion that covers the intake valve. If there is a machined hole there, 231 and can fit 225 with the right intake gaskets (Fel-Pro), if not then 225 only. The 225 had the pcv valve in the valve cover, 231 in the intake.

Nope. The hole would have been by the "r" in Offenhauser. That's for a 225 (originally).

Well, I guess that settles it. Since I happen to have a 225 and this intake is for that engine, i now must buy that holley carb to fit the intake that fits my engine to replace the wore out rochester 2GC's. what a terrible thing, right?

or should i pass GO and proceed directly to FUEL INJECTION?..

Similar intakes - EZ-EFI on my setups. Love it even after the 4bbls over the years.

I can tell you It will not fit my 231 odd fire. Mine is a 77 which is the year they changed to even fire. My heads are the even fire heads with the egr ports. The little slots in the intake runner are for the non-egr heads. That one looks just like the 225 intake and maybe the early 231 odd fire.

I looked at the price for the FI set ups. They are definitely out of my price range. http://www.fuelairspark.com/fas/ez-...system-master-kit-w-inline-fuel-pump-kithtml/ The 415 bucks for the carb plus the 50 bucks i spent on the intake is still high, but a good option to replace the 2GC with a NEW carb. I rebuilt a 454 for a suburban over 15 years ago. It had TBI on it. It really only had 2 injectors to atomize the fuel in pulses into the intake. Seemed really simple. I also rebuilt a couple 8V and 16V engines that had bosch mechanical FI on my GLI and GTI from the 80s. Same as on volvos and probably others. uses an arm and a plate in the air box. as the vacuum pulls the arm up it administers more fuel to the injectors. Im over simplifying but thats the concept.

Im probably going to buy this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/h...WibG71hh87Nfj7q8GvMnV0kQExaiElCMnqRoCtYDw_wcB

The next question I have is, what intake gaskets are best for this? I have read that some people have had issues. This thread had identified this intake as 225 and thats where its going.

    Thanks,
    Chris

What type of driving or off road use do you have planned for that #8007?

Works will both on and off road.........but will require some messing with to get it right.....but that is the good part about running a Holley as there is allot of options to tune those. Off road and on steep hills up/down/side........you will have to do something with the bowl vents to keep them from spelling over fuel.........

This 2A is 99.9% on paved roads. There is really nowhere close to get off road here and even if i did, its mostly flat. I live IN Washington D.C. I happened upon this intake for super cheap and I also happen to have 4 Rochester 2 GC's that really won't work together to make one good one and i'm over it. The running 2 GC i have now needs to be rebushed so bad the butterflies catch on the inside of the carb on close. I could fix it, but for 415 bucks and 4 barrel with an intake for 50 bucks, why do that?

I ran an edelbrock carb on my chevy blazer. worst thing i ever did. When i lived in AZ I would go down washboard roads and it would dump ALL the fuel and stall my truck. Dangerous as all heck when there are no guardrails and cliffs. no power steering or power brakes. Put a stock quadrajet i got for 25 bucks on it and poof, problem solved, gas mileage and power up.

I am looking for reliability with my jeep above all else really, well as reliable as i can get with this thing
