Just got some 1210 U-joints and threw the front driveshaft in. Really tight between the shaft and the starter. Anybody with a Buick V6 at stock ride height have any photos or measurements of the passenger-side bumpstop? The factory riggidy one on the axle tube and frame have long since broken off. I'm going to install longer bumpstops in place of the factory rubber pads on the frame and was wondering how far down they needed to be.

I'm guessing that this won't help you much, but just to give you an idea of what mine looked like when I first got it. Judging by this, I'd say even with new (factory-height) springs, there would only be a few inches of upward travel...

Thanks, Tim. Anyone else? I modified the Rancho bumpstop bracket and bolted it on. Speaking from experience, bumpstops this low are pretty hard on the kidneys, so if I could move it up a bit I'd like to.

i was looking at that the other day on mine and thought that maybe I would just grind away some of that excess metal to make a little clearence. Looking at my driveshaft, you can see where it has made contact a few times with the bellhousing/starter area.

not sure if it's the best idea but might work if you're careful.

You mean, they're not supposed to look like that? :D

Actually, I like to call it the "Quazi Spring" (pinky in mouth)...

Dummy - if you look close at my picture above, you'll see a bracket coming off the frame, just behind the brake hose. On some Dana 27's, there's another bracket welded to the axle tube just outboard of the u-bolts. It has a rubber bumper on it, which will contact that frame bracket that you see above. It's a really simple bracket that could be easily fabbed and welded on. This would give you more clearance between the "bump" and the "bump stop".

Attached is a picture of what I'm talking about. Unless you did something like this, or added a $400 lift from 4Wheel Parts, I don't see what else you could do...
