I bought my t-18 transmission for $80 on CL. Bought a rebuild kit for $150 or so. Assorted small parts for another $75. Novak kit for the T-18 to spicer T18 transfer adapter, $750ish with a rebuild kit.

Boxes and pieces waiting for my attention.

Finishing house repairs so pulling the t14 and transfer, that's next on the list.

FYI there is nothing noticeably wrong with my t14, just a good time to pull and mod while everything is off frame.
    Cheers

    Edit... I have 4.88s behind the 225 v6.

At one time I had to decide between the low t-case gears or a truck 4 speed. I thought about it for a long time and finally decided on the sm420. This has been by far the best mod I've made so I vote to go with changing the trans.

With the 7 to 1 granny low and 4.10 diffs the crawl ratio is approaching 70:1 which is great on the trail. With the V6 I can do 70 mph on the highway which is way too fast. I'd like to have the overdrive for the cool factor but I just don't need it as I can already go plenty slow and fast without it.

I still have the t14 in the garage - maybe someone else can use it some day.

A Warn overdrive has other advantages besides top speed. Having the ability to split gears is really nice, especially on the trail. Many times one gear is too low, the next is too high, but in between is "just right"...
Plus the cool factor of having 4 shifters :D

i have to agree here. it wasn't top speed i was worried about it was the splitting of the gears that i liked with the od

Gear splitting. This totally makes sense. Now you guys have me thinking about an OD . . . .

Trail riding I do end up with 2 lo too slow and 3 lo too fast. Then I'm switching in and out of 4wd to get to 2 hi for just the right drive ratio. Maybe I do need an OD.

I run with people and lots of different setups. Besides the road conditions, its real nice to be able to find the right gear that goes with the speed of the person in front of you :)

OD is a real 'must' in my book for fun.
