Hoping someone can give me some advice.....
I have a '65 CJ5, stock...It has never had a heater and dang it's cold out there. I want to do the simplest install, no plenum..just heat on the feet. Anyone reccemend one that is reasonable?
    Thanks for any help.

I'd love to hear of a cheaper way.

From what I understand the Mojave is the best all around.

I wouldn't recommend the stock style heater, not gonna mean much up near Kern County.

    Boneyard heater...
Go find a Chevy Astrovan. Pull the rear cabin heater out of the left rear corner.

I did a write-up/thread on here some years ago. Use Search terms AstroVan and/or heater.
I installed mine where the glove box was, and got a 3-speed fan switch.

This thing put out EXCELLENT heat!! And for a total investment of about 25% of a Summit heater.
Mounting it takes some creativity. You can probably save your glove box and move it toward center if you aren't using a plenum.

I'm doing a Summit also.........the only problem with either the Summit or Mojave is getting adequate flow to the Defrosters and at the same time to the Driver and Passenger. I'm doing an install now tucking the heater up under the dash to preserve that deep glove box. My plan is to remove the two hole plastic vent it comes with and build a Plenum that has directional vents that will do the windshield and also keep the two people up front happy!

A heater is nothing more than a core & a fan inside a box with a couple of holes in it. New ones are $$$ because copper is really high at the moment. Get something from the junkyard with the biggest core you think you can find room for & build a box that works for where you want to put it. A 3 speed switch from FLAPS & you're done.

Find ya an old mid 70's postal Jeep and pull the heater from that. they mount easy on the fire wall and do a good job heating the cab even here in 20 and 30 degree weather in Ohio. I will post a few pic's here in a while.

Yes, not that hard to build. I used a J truck core and a Honda Accord fan (because I had it and it fit) to build one for beneath the driver's seat in the 3B (rear tank) and it will literally cook you out on high-even with a soft top and below zero temps. Used a Nissan unit under dash for the defrost but that one is in the process of being replaced by another home brew unit with another J truck core.

Here ya go, it was hard to get any decent ones, I kept it simple with an on off switch. it mounted in the middle of the fire wall out of the way. I am really happy with the performance with it. I wouldn't mind if it had a defroster but it would be simple enough to hook one up.
Excuse the mud, I do use my JEEP :D

Thanks Terry, but that's just the way it was mounted in the postal. not all that imaginative but it works well.

Here is how I mounted my summit. It works really well, will drive you right out of the jeep on all but the coldest days. My biggest complaint is its kind of noisy.

There is good flow to the defroster. It is blowing air to the defrost all the time, and if I need more air the louvers on the bottom close. I got that bottom louver out of an international travelall

Of all the things that make noise in a Jeep, that heater is noisy? That sucker must be loud!

Can someone please post some pics of the hose hook up to the engne?

I have a '65 CJ5 4 banger and looking at the H20 pump I see a fitting (looks like 5/8/11/16 plug) to tap into but not a return fitting.

Do I need to buy a different T-stat neck?

    Thanks,
    Jim

P.S. I do have a '85 Waggy that I was looking to adapt the heater to the '65 but it is BIG.
