Ill prob give them a call monday to shoot the ****..
but at this point im not cutting into either the frame or the tub...

I took a look at the 73 CJ5 Tub I have and the factory rear floor brace is much thinner..

I think im going to leave it alone.. Aqualu Im sure has a reason for the brace being that beefy... Since Im not running any mechanical linkage and for all I know the added height of the transmission would interfere with the floor...
Im going to play around a bit with the different mounts I ordered and see whats the minimal height I can get away with..

ran into my first real hurdle with this guy..
body doesn’t want to sit square on the frame..
stock body mounts should be 5/8’s.. I think I’m getting high centered on the load floor support to the cross member..
also the 5/8 body mounts made it impossible to run the finned fabricated valve covers.. I am going to have to use stock style ones at this moment.

There were a few 15/16’s spacers in the kit and I used them at the cowl.. seemed to give me enough lift to get the rear support off the cross member.

Going to call prothane today and see if they sell individual mounts.. if not I don’t know what I’m exactly going to do..

    Here is the cross member....

Some of the valve cover clearance issues...
I had some cheap 29.99 chrome guys that’s I used to paint that I might be able to get away with...

    [IMG] [IMG]

Believe it or not the body IS centered....
seems the rear cross member is not exactly even.... unsure why at this point... something the rear bumper and a sawzall will fix...

Teaser shot.... everything lined up nice...

Got a LOT LESS done this weekend than I would have hoped..
got 4 body mount holes drilled in the tub.. it’s as close as its ever going to be to dead on balls centered.. a lot closer than the factory ever achieved.
Gas tank zinc painted and mounted.. will need to come out again before final body assembly.

Transmission and Tcase didn’t make it Friday..
1 little snow storm and freight companies are delayed for days..
Got the inspection cover and flywheel in place.. when to install the clutch and even I am not impervious to defective pars, and I sell them for a living...
Friction disc was all chewed up from shipping..

Ended up having a bit of cabin fever last night from being in a small little plane all day long..

no engine hoist, and only a vertical chain fall...
I lifted this sucker out of the jeep and onto a floor dolly..
I’m sure I’ll be sorry for it tonight.

all strapped up and ready for install..

Finished with the clutch install.. sent the flywheel housing out to be bead blasted.. ill clear coat that tonight assuming I get it back from the machine shop in time..

I decided to go with stock cast iron manifolds..
Ordered a new set from Crown and I have to say the quality of the casting and clean up is far better than the Dorman ones we sell and others I have seen..
little red tag fell out of the plastic bag and low and behold there was a little bit of homeland pride in there...
they are on their way right now to get Jet Hot Coated...
love the way clean cast metal looks...

Stabbed the motor.. drivetrain connected and in place..

ran into some issues with the mount for the T18/300 combo...
since its a Scout case and it mounts directly to the factory 1" adapter plate like a D20 would...

generic ploy trans mount wont mount to the plate... what have people done that have done a T18 swap in a Intermediate CJ?
mocked it up with some nuts as spacers and dont you know the motor is dead on balls...

I moved the crossmember back to match the new location of the adapter plate mount. But in your case it looks like the crossmember needs to go forward.

I ordered another mount I found in some threads when I dug into this a bit further...
going to wait till that comes in before I move the crossmember..... But I do see that happening in my future unless everything magically lines up...

in the picture where the trans has not yet been mated there is a grease nipple on the throwout bearing.. Does that stay in place for service? And if so how does one access it.. It's on the far side of the inspection cover.

I moved my cross member as well ,I have a dauntless to ford t18 to scout 300,,I'm using a lower profile rubber mount out of a GM 68 A body ,just opened up the holes a little .and for the torque bar I'm using a 1/4" steel concrete stake

been having some issues finding the correct transmission mount for this guy..
used Advance Adapters universal crossmember mount... (for the time being)

still haven't mounted trans to or changed placment of crossmember.
wanted to get the body mocked up now and check tranny tunnel height.

found out it is a scout adapter plate thus the problems I am having with finding a correct Jeep mount...
drilled and tapped another hole in the adapter plate.

ordered a scout mount before I commit to a mounting solution...
looking forward to seeing what issues im going to have with the body....

I set 4 threaded rod guides to raise and lower the body on, helped keep it straight and made the 10 up and downs easier..

4" hole saw centered the shift tower

Took a stock tunnel cover and traced on the floor to get a rough cutout section.
**** tower wasn't dead center, but close enough to make a template.
Jigsaw took care of the transmission opening.

I removed the crossmember since I still don't have an acceptable transmission mount and used a floor jack to raise and lower the drivetrain through various angles.
Drivetrain clearance looks good now.. Might need to take just a hair more off toward the firewall..
Got the body to sit almost within stock guidelines... About 5/8 - 7/8"s off the frame...

That looks like the stock Jeep PU/Wagoneer mount used for many years. I used the same mount with my Saginaw 4 speed conversion. About as low profile as you can get with a rubber mount.

got the dash installed last night, more holes drilled and trans hump opened up a bit...
started measuring for the column hole... wasn’t sure enough on the angle to make the move.
Body is sitting on stock 5/8 pucks for now and everything is looking good...
manifolds and cross member height will be the deciding factor..

Manifolds came back from Jet hot... Will go home on the motor this week..
