I don’t think they make a hood... the do make high clearance fenders though..
I’m going with original sheet metal for the front clip and windshield.

Bed liner and sanding are in order...
    Just not doing it myself...
I have a neighbor that has a hard on for me, a 3 and 1 yr old and a dog..
Didn’t want to be sanding aluminum in my driveway for hours...

when I pick it up, it will be bolt on ready... final assembly time

Body is home on the horses...
    Very pleased with the results..
exterior is polished to mirror shine..
10 levels of abrasive, couple rounds of buff and polish.
tinted bed liner application went well, needs some touch up after all holes are drilled and car is actually driving under it own power.. Just needed a good base coat to adhere to the floors.
I saved the ceramic polymer coating for afterwards when the whole truck is assembled.. I wanted to get the same finish results on the steel pieces as well.

    Short list for now:
    Firewall insulation
    Trans tunnel insulation
    dynamat application?
    mount tub!

Been some time since the last real update..
Work has been slow with the weather being nice and businesspicking up.
Media card with corrupted sectors lost me some pics, buthere are some from along the way..

Got the Fuel and Brake system plumbed to the firewall, waiting for tub to complete install.
I’m not a big fan of rubber lines, so I ran NiCop linesalong the frame.

Ebrake cables installed from Drum to equalizer

New Driveshafts installed front and rear courtesy of TomWoods…
Might be a little issue with the front shaft and thepassenger side pipe.. its ok enough toget her running and ill figure out a custom exhaust if need be once its roadworthy.

Installed the dash to get a sense of where I will need toplace new holes in Dash and Firewall for various components..

Decided to put speakers in the dash along with the headunit..
Mounted AC/Heat unit to get a better understand of placementand weight..
I will deff need to add a rear support if I don’t want itflopping around on uneven terrain.
Ordered a new switch pod from the 12 Volt guy for the ARBs –hole wont get cut before paint… I willprob regret that later..

I lost the majority of the pictures of the firewall andtransmission tunnel heat shielding..
I used heat shield products HP Sticky Shield.. Rated at 1100 deg direct heat and is veryelement resistant..
Taping up the loose seams with their “weld” tape took themajority of the time and $$$ amazing howsmall 36” is when your taping up irregularly cut seams…

A decent shot of the firewall with the heat shield before Imounted the body to the frame for the last time.

Had to throw the grill and windshield frame on the truck toget a little tease of where I was going with this project…
I finally got some positive feedback from my wife… funny how some people can’t envision an endresult…

Thread galling ( cold welding ) is always a problem with Stainless.......has to do with self-generate friction that wipes or shears off the oxide surface film used for corrosion protection and or the clearance between threads are just to tight notwithstanding that stainless compared to mild steel is just more brittle! It apparently gets hot enough to weld the nut and bolt together...........ask me how I know? Peterbilt trucks are loaded with stainless steel on grills , mufflers & trim.........and we have had are share of issues. If one gets locked on.......You either have to bring out the cutoff wheel or put a good 1/2 impact on it and hope it breaks............

As you have already alluded to above the use of anti seize or other thread lubricants is highly recommended........also the speed at which you put these fasteners on is also very important..........meaning no air guns...............Honestly we do all of the above and still get a bolt now and then that just locks up!

I've weighed my options of SS vs. yellow zinc..

I didn't hesitate to use yellow zinc for all chassis work, but with the aluminum body I feel the need to use stainless..
Obviously body mounts bolts, fender and hinge bolts are out of the way enough for massive amounts of lube.. I just don't like the idea of anti seize potentially getting everywhere, especially with the dash !!!

The threads don't need to swim in it........................... Underneath the vehicle be it stainless or yellow zinc plated steel , it is still a good Idea to anti-seize those for future removal.
On your dash aluminum bolts / nuts and chrome hardware is available everywhere.
