Driving into work this morning the steering feels so much better.
My hands are much quieter on the steering wheel.

Now I just got to get it bolted in the jeep. This one goes in the tan cj5. It has new Yukon 3.73's, with an Elocker
This is the 1st time I have done a gear setup. Wish me luck.

Trying to fix the steering on the Commando. The factory Saginaw manual box is shot, so I'm replacing it with the manual box that was in my CJ for many years. Different spline for the column so I bought a different shaft from ebay and re using the joint from when it was in the CJ. Really want ps in this thing but the brackets and pulleys are going to be a challenge on this one so this is a temporary solution to keep it on the road.

I highly recommend washing out the straw before you have to strap down the jeep.
What are you using for floor anchors?

It's a stock slant, fits with inches to spare width and height. I have to make a minor mod to the slant wall at it's shortest point. Unfinished dressing room. At some point I'd like to fit it out.
I envision an awning, outside drop down shelf for Coleman stove, a cowboy shower in the horse area, cassette type pooper. Probably a propane heater. I don't require much other than a good nights sleep

It's clean, sin unto death hard on the floor to leave sawdust/straw/ pee-poop etc. No straps, not enough room to go anywhere( can hardly get to anything when it's in, have to crawl out the back). Low range, first, parking brake .

IMHO you should figure a way to tie it down as a 3000lb projectile is not something to have aimed at your back. I knew a guy that ran in to
a ditch with truck and boat in tow. The truck stopped and the boat did not. Cleaned the cap off the top of his crewcab 4X4 with him and his
wife in it. He was 59.
Just because you can does not make it a good idea or safe.

I hear you, have those stories too. If it gets through everything in front of it I wasn't making it anyway. Ymmv

Dad had a black angus dinner volunteer open his trailer like a soda can.

As my go-to open seat, it would be in my best interest for you to load the jeep then strap the axle back to the trailer frame. Go under the trailer door and use some blocks behind the jeepto ensure it doesn't roll back when you open the rear door. That's a long haul for it to stay in gear.

I have used that bell crank sense the 1960's without any kind of problem.
Have one on my CJ3B now.

    Attention:

If you put shim blocks in your front axle to adjust castor & they don't improve handling take them out the next day & put them back in the right way around.

    This will work better.

    That is all.

Reusing bearings and shims isn't a problem, as long as they're on the same side as they came off of. Good luck, Ron

Yup im trying not to mix them up. I was able to get them off with a bearing splitter and the hub puller without damage. I thought i had a problem with the bearing preload on the one axle but turned out it was just becasue the other axle was out. And I think the center spacer gets reused in the new unit. It looks like itll fit.

Leave the kids with Mom this year and take your JEEP out there. Enough of this renting stuff.
