I just cleaned the barn where the Jeep stands. Many leaves from trees, pushed by the winds; so I pushed the leaves out with my blower! easy work.
Good tool, I didn't believe it before seeing workers in my garden clean the alleys. So I bought one. My wife likes it, light tool, powerful.
I did this today because we had sunshine, nice weather, so I opened to doors of the barn, after many wet days.
And some rain came in the afternoon.
So... the Jeep stays in the barn, waiting better days. This is the rain period, ponds must fill, earth must drink and Jeeps can hove some rest.
If winter come, with ice, snow, I will be happy to drive it but in the mud, no too much.

Since I'm on quarantine and currently out of money I really have nothing to do on any of the vehicles but maintain them at this point. There's still some things I'd like to do to get the CJ5 back closer to stock condition but it's driveable. So all I did today was a once over on everything in the garage. Checked tire pressures, fluid levels ect. Think I may break the CJ out tomorrow and go to the range maybe. It's a private range all outdoors I take my own targets, and I should be the only one there on a week day so no exposure risks.

I made a 120 mile drive to Tucson before the sun came up to snag a Dana30, Dana44 and a Belleview 6000 from an estate sale. I got the lot for $150 and they both match the 3.73 that I currently have! The Dana 30 has drums but all the disc conversion parts I’ve compiled for the D27 should fit. The Dana 44 was just icing on the cake and I’ll probably steal the 11x2 brakes with e brake and 30spline carrier for a future full floating kit on my offset Dana44

Threw a couple of recovery hooks on the CJ5, one on each end, and changed the oil on one of the motorcycles.

Yesterday I welded the tailgate back together at the latch points. I think one of the previous owners hung a spare tire off of the tailgate which caused these points to rip. I welded the cracks/rips ground them down smoothish and repainted.

After sitting in my garage for, I don't know, 9 months due to me dealing with life stuff, I did my first ever valve adjustment on my 1960 CJ5.
Ran fine when complete, so I didn't grenade the engine!

Yeah, It is a real job to adjust the exhaust valves on those F head engines without removing the exhaust manifold and also the left front fender helps.

Hobbes restoration... I scored a NOS still in the box Whitco (Not sure if it is a 1205 or 2105 series) soft top. Thank you Sam, for putting me in touch with your brother Tim, and Tim for letting this go.

Here is the cool thing.... Hobbes at one point in his life had this exact top. I put the driver's door on the tub and the snaps matched up perfectly to one set of the two sets of existing holes.

The other cool thing is that this top is an authorized Jeep Special Equipment top that was clearly produced sometime after Feb 1970 when AMC bought out Kaiser. Notice the AMC logo next to the special equipment marking.

This is the early top with the back having three windows. Sometime in 1971, Whitco updated the top eliminating the three windows instead using a single large. Whitco it would appear continued to produce the early style for at least a little while after the AMC purchase of Jeep.
This top looks and feels like it could have been produced last month. No dryness, cracking or damage anywhere.

The pics are in order as I unboxed this cool piece of history.

Hobbes restoration... So you are asking yourself, what good is a NOS Whitco soft top without the hardware?. Well it turns out that I also scored a still in the box NOS Whitco soft top hardware kit

Hobbes restoration... Thank you Sam for the heads up on this. I scored this still in the box NOS Warn 5687 winch.

This is the rebranded Warn winch that replaced the Belleview 6000 after Warn bought out Belleview.
This winch was produced from 1971-75. I believe Warn replaced it with it's flagship 8274 that powered both in and out with a remote eliminating the need for the cable system?.
The packing and parts boxes were still sealed. The pics are in order as I unboxed this cool piece of history.

The last pic is of my restored Belleview 6000 Grandaddy next to it's son the Warn 5687.

Hobbes restoration... Since I scored the NOS Warn 5687 winch, I have decided to use my NOS Warn M54 hubs instead of my NOS Dualmatics.
The M54's were produced through 1971 the last year of the 10 spline Dana 27.
This keeps the front end Warn equipped as that would have been the most probable setup in 1971.

Hobbes restoration... What good are all of these NOS parts if you do not know what to buy or how to use it.
I scored this original 1971 owners manual (thank you Roy for giving it up) and this NOS 1971 Jeep dealership brochure.
Apparently AMC really wanted you to know that the Jeep has guts lol

Only showing the first couple of pages that have the CJ5

You're very welcome for the owner's manual. I'm still amazed you've found all this NOS stuff 50 years later. I can't wait to see the Jeep done.

I did nothing. But we had yesterday an election, not really like you have in USA... we know the result immediately.
    That was Miss France election.
And Miss Normandie was chosen as Miss France. Nice young lady.
And because of "Normandie", you can see her in a WWII Jeep !
