About a week ago, I moved my '53 cj3b to a different spot on the driveway. I noticed a puddle of oil under the rear differential. I've owned the jeep for about 100 weeks. If that much oil leaked out in one week, how much has leaked out after a hundred weeks?

I removed the cover and let the diff fluid drain out.

I cleaned the two surfaces and used black RTV to seal the cover. I refilled the diff with fluid. I placed a piece of clean cardboard under the differential. After 24 hours, there are no drips from the cover seal, but there are a few drips from the pinon. I guess I can't win'em all.

Bitched at the machine shop to get with it.

Block is hot tanked. Heads apart and tanked. 30years ago when I had the heads shopped to have the guides milled and a valve job done, well they didn't do the angle job I paid for. Lapped them a little and called it good. Just as well this thing beat up the crank, seems everything is suspect....

Drove it to work today. That’s all. Been driving the 3/4 ton Chevy a fair amount since I installed a new 6.0.

Preparation for a trip to the body shop to to repair some rust spots and have new fenders painted. The last paint job was 1996 and it still looks pretty good.

Now if you ever sell it, you can list it as a MILITARY Jeep on Craigslist!

Nothing that wild today. Found a bit banged up but new Tuffy box on facebook for over half off. It's a tight fit on a 71 but it works. Forgot to check clearance on the rear window... but I will burn that bridge down when I get there later.

Took me 5 min debating if those were 4 x 8 sheets on the roof before I noticed everything spilling from the passenger door and tail. I think you could incorporate a ladder rack on the front bumper as part of a new exocage. (y)
