Thanks for the those pics and measurements...Below are the measurements for the Crown replacement that broke. OAL of the inner cable including the pedal yoke: 58 1/4" as Crown specs state.

Length of the sleeve/cable housing between the mating surfaces - 35.5"

Length of the threaded end for the clutch fork adjuster nut - 3.5"

As Fireball noted on the Inline Tubing production, a 61.5" OAL of the inner cable with 35.5" sleeve/cable is going to cause it to be over 3" too long. And in typical confusing parts info, the online sales rep for Inline Tubing reported the OAL length of the cable to be 53 1/8" - not sure if that included the pedal yoke or not, or if maybe it didn't include the threaded end section? I will try to give them a call and talk to a real person and see if they can give me a verified measurement.

Today was pretty satisfying, but also slightly frustrating.

First, the satisfying. I installed Brennan Metcalf's Suzuki brakes on the passenger side of my dana 30 swap. It looks like I'm not going to need longer wheel studs either

If you look closely, you can see the detroit green axle yokes. I think it's a subtle but cool accent.

The frustrating/annoying part comes from the long side. I hammered in a new u-joint, but I can't get it to drop down enough to put in the clip. I suspect one of the needle bearings fell under the end. It moves fine. I'm going to have to go rent the tool again, because whacking it with a hammer isn't doing anything good lol.

Agreed, it looks like the Inline Cable housing is fine, but the inner cable needs to be about 3" shorter. I was just guessing by eyeballing under the Jeep when I came up with my 4-4.5 number.

Hey Fireball - I talked directly on phone with Inline Tube - they are quite interested in this issue and he confirmed the measurements are pretty much what you measured. Could you measure the entire length of the threaded rod - both the threaded and smooth section? So much appreciated....The sales manager and tech lead for various vehicle applications wanted to know more and was willing to work with us on the forum if we can get him some feedback on if their part is too long and what the original specs are. He really is only wanting OEM specs - and that might cause an issue with any of you that have done some mods or 4speed swaps etc. I am going to post up some additional info in a new thread that I will link here soon...

I'll do some more measuring tonight. jpflat2a noted some lengths from the parts book in this recent thread: 71 Clutch Cable

It would be good to hear from others who have used this cable and if they had to modify it. It seems like it would be about perfect for a T98/T18 Jeep.

Yup, hoping jpflat2a can provide some more info and parts book info (or some of the others with original publish info), as the guys at Inline tube need that before they will finalize making a new cable...

If you've been following along on my clutch cable story - going link to a new thread where we can continue the discussion and hopefully get some details cleared up and maybe get some help from Inline Tube. thanks!

Good news from the body shop, my cowl is ready for paint!
The rust on the cowl I was so worried about was only surface rust under the paint and was simple to eliminate. They still need to refinish the windshield frame that I had sandblasted to remove some rust on it.

The JKU window nets showed up, so I replaced the ratchet strap dog netting on the '71 (What Did You Do To Your Jeep Today?) with something better looking.

Zip tied the middle link to the rear top hoop:

I added some hooks to a top rail bolt for the rear strap. Used some squeaze links because that's what was kicking around:

Put hose clamps on the rear hoop for the upper straps to pull against and not slide down the hoop. Sorry for the poor picture:

Had a heck of a time getting oil pressure when I had my Fhead apart. Seems like I had to put a 12v pump direct to the oil pickup with the pan off, or something crazy like that. And yes, I mean with the engine runnin.

    Dear Howard my Friend,
It is Imperative that any new oil pump install with gears , must be packed with Petroleum Jelly. It's the only sure fire way to create the prime that I know of . Please stop running it dry like that . You'll be rebuilding the bearings again very soon.
