Thank you. One of my favorite tools. I sunk that log in the ground a few feet and strapped down the anvil. It is so great to work with. I am looking for a hardy to fit it.

Went out for a coke today, all they had was bottles, so I got motivated to install the bottle opener I bought 2-3 years ago.

Installed two new taillight lenses, probably the most inexpensive and easiest improvement I’ve ever done on the CJ.
Each lens was $1.09 at O’Reilly’s.
Seems like it would be a bargain at twice the price!

  10. Yes, been there with the 67 Commando. The old wiring just doesn't want to carry the amps to engage the solenoid. That's why relays were invented. Works every time with the relay installed to kick in the starter solenoid!

Took the starter apart and cleaned it out. It was full of garbage. It always worked well though and was in good shape otherwise. Cleaned it up, polished the armature, greased the bushings and back together it went. I gave it a coat of rust ender, to be followed up with primer and paint later. It was strangely satisfying.

That was the magic. You removed it. Now it won’t work.

    Red Kote tank liner
I bought this in 2018 and coated my 4 gas cans, they were getting rusty inside. 3 of the cans were left empty during the last trip and one was used. The used one dissolved the Red Kote.(probably not enough cure time) The other three ..... well about 2 cups of water got into the cans and the bottom of them were rusty. The sides were still red.
So I am trying something else. I am coating the inside with chassis saver. I'll let you know how it goes.

Fun fact the cans were Mfg May 20, 1976 :)

Installed a new water pump. Old one worked fine, but my 72 304 has the odd-ball length pulley shaft. The P.O. put in a whole new cooling system (pump, radiator, hoses) but used the wrong pump. The slightly angled belt was driving me crazy! If anyone wants a good water pump for a 304 (not intermediate), let me know.

Took it for a little rip up Ortega Highway(Windy road connecting Lake Elsinore and San Clemente) and the old Jeep handles really well for what it is surprisingly. I was even keeping up with traffic!
