My 67 CJ5 build

    Yeah, I don't think that frame's much good anymore.:lol:

    With all the work you have done, I would get a after-market tool box. I installed one on my build, fit was pretty good, had to do some adjustment around the transmission tunnel.
    Work looks good. How did you fix the tail light panel?

    Where the tub attaches to the frame. There is a attachment point to the rear of the riser panel. The riser panel/floor are horizontal, the frame rolls up, the floor metal needs to be adjusted to match the frame. Had a problem there on my build. Noticed it after everything was painted. Can get a picture tomorrow of the location if you need one

    I would like to see a picture of what you mean, as far as the tail light panel I did t do anything yet but it looks like a may have to cut it in half, remove a small section and weld it back in, still thinking about it

    I would cut it at the top at the bend. Will be at the easier to finish, less body work than in middle of the panel. Will do picture tomorrow.

    Here is a picture of the attachment point I was talking about. The picture is in the driver side, rear wheel well. On the other side of the metal will be the gas tank.

    John, you need to think about grounding for your electric wiring. I painted and sealed my tub like you a doing. Now I am running grounds to tail lights etc. so they will work. You might want to incorporate some type of ground hook ups, so you are not grinding paint to get to metal. Tub to frame etc. I am at this point and wish I had did something before I painted.

    Using white epoxy sure shows all the problem areas and spots I missed welding, it also shows all the work I still have..... ugh..... why didn't I buy a repli tub ?????

    I fear a replacement tub might have made it no longer feel like it was your Father's original Jeep. You are bringing back history here. I'm gonna be proud of my '68 build when done, but yours is on a whole different plane. Build on good sir...

    I got to tell you. Every time I get to where you are, I swear I am going to buy a replacement tub. And like you, I usually end up in pain, just like you are. I have a cj6 and cj8 right now that need tubs and I have the parts to replace everything for the c6 right now, but its killing me to start, where you are now. One day, I am going to save a years worth of work and buy a MD Juan tub and say the hell with it.

    at least you don't have to remove the primer to do the finish,that's a huge benefit to the epoxy primer base.

    Started the welding process today and got the one wheelhouse on. Epoxy priming first made it a bit of a pain, the pc has to go on then all the spot welds marked then back off, sand the weld areas put back on and weld. Then the fumes from the burning epoxy gave me a 3 advil headache. Won't do that again.

    Today's progress, I can see I'm going to build a rotisserie (out of wood) for this. Why do I get the feeling this body will be one good pothole away from self destruction ? :banghead:

    I wouldn't worry about potholes John, pretty sure you are taking more care and doing a better job than the factory ever did.

    Well she survived her first roll over :beer: everything from the wheel wells back is spot welded
