Some more heat and a bigger hammer popped it back in place to good nuff standards

Welded the screw holes up. Got it scuffed and wiped down with acetone

I plan on doing the body work on the cowl (except the welding points) before attaching so I can get a good coat of epoxy primer on it

Lots of tedious work, I can't wait to see the end result. I'm sure it's looking fantastic!:watch:

This was fun to sand ........ not ..... but I got it kinda flat

I put a coat of bondo on and block sanded. Notice the high spots. I tapped them down a bit with the hammer and dolly and recoated

Used a cheese grater file to knock down the high spots in the bondo

At this point I block sand by hand only with 60 grit paper until flat. Then I keep going until I just start to see the previous high spots then stop. I don't use spot putty, the high build primer fills in any imperfections

John, do not know if I posted this here. I used POR 15 Metal Prep on bare metal. Would spray on bare metal when I got it, to keep it from flash rusting. I sanded blasted my tub twice, because of flash rust. If I had used Metal Prep the first time, after the tub was sand blasted, I feel I would have not had to sand blast the second time. The Metal Prep will remove flash rust too. I have used about 3 gallons of the stuff on my build. If I have a piece of metal with heavy rusted metal, I would soak it in "The Works" to remove the rust, then spray it with POR 15 Metal Prep and it will not rust in the future.

I learned the hard way about flash rust, and sometime wonder if I have not remove it all, will it come back and haunt me in the future.
I also run a dehumidifier 24/7 in my garage.

I always use it before applying the por-15 My only issue using it for the sheet metal is you're supposed to rinse it off with water, when you do that you get flash rust which por-15 likes to adhere to, paint .. not so much

I have washed off with water and do not remember rust being a issue. Since I run the dehumidify in the garage, it helps stopping rust

There are multiple vendors for a metal prep solution. I like either a self etching primer or epoxy primer. I’ve been using Sherwin Williams dura plate with good results. It is very forgiving on prep. Heck they spray boats without sanding and it sticks.

Went back over the thread and I have to say that you are determined and doing some real nice work. Makes me want to go out in the barn and get going on the 62 sitting out there right now. Going to be a Dauntless, SM420 combo. Have the frame work and axles done and now it just sits. Going to need almost or maybe more tub work than yours. But you have giving me a little encouragement, now I just need a little better weather. Hay barns are not known for holding in heat. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see it finished.

The 2 issues I have are all the panels don't line up on the bottom rear. Any thoughts on how to fix this ?

Also they appeared to send me the wrong wheel house support ?

Fitting pc's together. Then everything comes apart, media blasted on Saturday, epoxy primed and welded together. Hood is original to jeep.

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Then I need to decide if I want to bother repairing this

    [IMG] [IMG]

And the only other part original to the jeep was my windshield frame that was pristine until I let it sit in my wet basement for 18 yrs
