    I’d run 3.73s. (y)

You said punted... didn’t know if you meant the crank or the whole engine.

I have a fresh 231 with a few goodies inside, a Commando 400/20, Centered flanged 44 and an NT 30 with 3.73. I can scab a tranny cooler easily enough. This was earmarked for another project. The even fire will fuel injection easily enough. I can use the squirreled m21 and rebuild the odd fire for that project (grocery getter/ weekend tripper)

Don't know if you can see but cam bearing is pitted. Cam looks ok, lifters look good. I'm convinced the oil was there but the 30yr old assembly lube dried or deteriorated.

All the bearing surfaces where it was used are shot.

That's a bummer on your oddfire. I like my oddfire but in my mind I have been really going back and forth between rebuilding it someday or swapping it for a smooth 350 chevy.

How much is shipping an even fire flywheel? There is one included with the $150 even fire motor on Craig's near me.

    Can't fathom. $50-100?, A new one is 300+
$150? Buy it and shove it under the bench.

Wouldn’t it be easier to find another oddfire or fix yours than make all new crossmembers and have to undo all the stuff you did for the clutch and all that? I’ll see what I can find for sale by me.

Jeep battery seemed like it has been dying since the rubicon...don't think it liked the couple winch pulls. The battery was typical FLAPS and worked quite well....it had a 2 year warranty and went for 5 years without issue until a few weeks ago, but it rarely had to deep cycle as I don't use the winch all that much. Anyway it finally died and I had to decide what to replace it with...another FLAPS battery for $140 or so, or go upscale with AGM style deeper cycle like Odyssey or yellow top Optima etc, which run over $250...so after a bit of research and a 15% off coupon, I went with this: Duracell AGM

Its AGM with better deep cycling capability, MADE IN USA, and got decent reviews...all for just under $200. Its got a 4 year warranty so we'll see. One big downside, its not a common retailer so getting it warrantied when not here at home could be a PITA (the local store is walking distance from my house)....will keep you posted....at least the jeep started right up! Can drive it to work tomorrow....

I will definitely be interested in how the Duracell works, I am considering AGM batteries as well for the jeep and the boat.

a set of cheapo 4" speakers that happen to say Renegade on them, $19. Both mounted on the passenger side to take advantage of existing weld-nuts and there's no room on the driver's side and I don't hear very well in my left ear anyway.

My jeep project pile-o-parts came without the two grill support rods. I made some new ones out of 3/8" steel rod and all-thread from Home Depot.

I bent the rods to match those in a '70 cj5. The pattern I used:

I cut a slot in the end of each rod, made a little tab, and welded the tab to the rod.

At the other end of the rod I welded a section of all-thread. The original rods had fine threads, but my all-thread is just regular threads.

So...... I had an eventful Sunday. 1st one involved moving all my sensors, mounts , wiring, & vacum lines . Took most of the Day but Looks Mint , don't ya think ?
    Offenhauser Makeover.JPG
The second job involved a new Thrust Plate repair kit for my Buick 231. The OEM housing was a weak point , that when worn caused low oil pressure.
New Thrust Plate.JPG I'll fire her back up Tuesday Morning ! Here's Hoping .......:bananatool:
