The real reason I painted this stuff is because I’m waiting on parts. Otherwise I’d throw it back together.

Spring is here. All the yard tools and the tractor need fuel. Used the '71 for a fuel run and filled it up too:

I got the cast off a week ago Monday and ended up with Covid 19. I've had worse cold bugs, but the fatigue has lingered.
I finally got to do a little fab work on the CJ5 frame. I cut plates and boxed the 3" square tube front bumper and welded it in place, and then slotted a piece of 1" by 2 1/2" channel and welded it in place for a Grille/core support. Since I don't have the tub installed, or the new long hood yet, I hope my measurements are close enough for the slot to work.
I'll be adding gussets and a heavy plate for the power steering gearbox and the drag link for coil spring front axle.

You kids and your hearing, Overrated.
I can't hear the transfercase over the rear axle over the engine. After a mile you gotta talk like I just woke up.

I have a persistent ring in my ears so this isn't to better my hearing. It's to better my transfercase. :p

I went for a drive looking to get a picture for the photo scavenger hunt. While going down a washboard road, I ran into a large pothole, and started to hear a loud rattle. I broke a rear shock mount. Yea, I was told they were going to snap off but I thought I could get by for now. I was wrong. Back to the drawing board....
A thunderstorm rolled in as I was driving around. I was surprisingly dry except for my left arm and leg. I need Rain-X or windshield wipers. I couldn't see anything when cars passed by.
I bought a set of spark plugs to keep as spares so when one fouls I just toss in another.

    A picture of clarity.

Lets see, what i did over the last month:D
Pulled the jeep in the garage 4 weeks ago, pulled the poly fuel tank squirrel chewed on, fuel lines squirrel chewed thru, and hose from lines to pump.

Look at and let sit for next 4 weeks.

Today i finally got everything i needed and installed. Swapped in a steel tank from the plow jeep so i can have the correct fuel sender so my gauge doesn't read half tank at full. Bent up 2 new brake/fuel lines. Tank has the 2 bungs on the bottom for feed and return. Ran the steel lines inside the frame and out just in front of the motor mount. From there used some fancy stainless braided fuel hose so hopefully it doesn't get chewed on.
I also cleaned up and brushed on some truck bed liner on the drivers floor panel. Hoping it gives something to keep the tank rubbbing thru the paint.

I took mine to the proving grounds, impressed myself, and found I only pump down about 5 gals of fuel and if it sloshed away from the pickup I'm out of luck.
