    It has a date at Peake Fabrication in Stevensville MD tomorrow. Cage, seats, harnesses.

    Up for discussion. The existing cage turned out to be hrew. More or less 1-7/8 od. Tubing I had bent is 1.5" Dom 120wall. Had some 1-7/8 Dom .120. I realize this is " non standard" but no tube bender available, had to sort this out. I'm comfortable with it for my chosen safety level.

    All welds are tig. In retrospect it would be easier to start blank without an existing cage. The lower portion was modified to get more leg clearance at the floor.

    Can you tie that into the dash? I think the recent rollover thread has shown how effective that is.

    Just the opinion of a guy who can’t sleep if two opposing gussets don’t line up...

    This just a quick sketch on my phone, but I’d probably run two parallel sections of tubing rather than the gussets. It would help smooth out the blockiness of the corner. :shrug:

    The dash is fiberglass and my braces are out board. It's a thought, not sure about the benefit for my construction.

    Agree, nice shop!my wife says I'm lucky that I have a 24x24 (which I am) but the 5-year plan includes a 30x36 detached garage with a lift, blast cabinet, lounge area, and basement woodworking shop!

    Now here's something I haven't seen in over 30 years. Both my engine temp and fuel gauges working. Oh I added a capillary tube engine temp gauge so I knew how hot I was running but the fuel was just a guessing game. I finally got tired of it and replaced my fuel sending unit and both the fuel and temp gauges. Note: the original engine temp gauge didn't care what direction the electricity was flowing but that's not the case with the new gauges and the strap that used to connect both gauges will no longer work... I found out the hard way!

    Got back from picking up a new drivetrain for the '71. The Buick 350 that's in it was someone's bad idea. Sure It bolted to the motor mounts and bellhousing, but the radiator is now shortened to fit on top the crossframe and there is still no room for a decent fan. The 350 is big, heavy, and gets hot when moving slow. Going back to a V6.

    Got lucky with a package deal for everything I was dreaming of for the running gear. A 225 that looks to be in good shape, a T98 with granny gear, and an overdrive! Whoohoo!

    That's why we run 2) electric fans & a 2 " core aluminum radiator . It gains about 6" of space up front & keeps the big kids nice & cool. 'Rosie's ' Engine Bay #2.JPG

    A bottled water cooler/heater, mini fridge & a sink that drains down into the gravel under the slab. Put them all in a 3x4 insulated closet in the back corner with a heater for the winter.

    One step forward, two steps back today. I rigged a ghetto lifting mechanism using a come-along and my roll cage to lift my t18/d18 combo. I'm trying to figure out if I'd be better off mounting the transfer case in the stock location, or the engine in the v6 stock location (which would move the drive shafts 3" back from stock.

    All went awry when I realized that I can't bolt the crossmember on without cutting out and raising the center tunnel. Whomp whomp. I think I'm going to build a cart that holds everything an inch or two below the frame, so I can easily adjust.

    Sure wish I had a lift, lol.
