Slipped in my new King main bearings, still waiting on the rod bearings to arrive. The FelPro rear main seal was a nice product but the side seals for the rear main cap were a giant pain to install correctly. I spent hours with them. Oh well, all done now. I cant wait for the rod bearings to arrive. I just want it buttoned up so I can finish the power steering install. I don't want to create any dust with the pan off.

If you can't get them tight as a drum, you most likely need to move the bow to body mounting brackets rearward a bit. I would unbolt them and clamp them on rearward, in half inch increments, on shortest setting to assess where to drill new holes. Or possibly lengthen the back bow by a bit to tighten it up back there.

Well, I reassembled the little Buick with the new bearings and let it run for about an hour. I am not satisfied with the oil pressure, about 25 at 3000 rpm(10w30) and I have a leak at the rear main (still). I am going to take the little Buford out and pull it down, and give it a quick refresh, new cam bearings and rings while it's out, plus pull the crank and check it for roundness and get it cut if necessary. I can address the small leak at the front of my SM465 while I'm at it. Plus I have to rebuild the engine in my son's Polaris Xplorer. I guess we will show a loss this month.

After the new paint job I’ve been putting the CJ back together with many new parts to include, new front fenders, new fender flairs, new seats and carpet. I also had the rock sliders and rear bumper sandblasted and powder coated. All that’s left to install is the soft top and I’ll be ready for the Jeep Safari in Moab.

You've done an excellent job! Make sure to keep that carpet dry or you will be replacing the floor pans in a couple of years.

Since the not-so-great inaugural drive of my '68 project jeep, I've adjusted the timing, adjusted the clutch, and adjusted the brakes. Today's test drive was a notch better.

It moves under it's own power, the transfer case transfers, the overdrive works, and the thing now stops. I need to do a simple front end alignment and get a license plate before venturing out any further.

The windshield is down in the first place from my brake test. I don't have the windshield clamps on the dash installed yet. :banghead:

Well, I dropped off my Dauntless block, crankshaft and rods, along with ARP studs and some Sil-vo-lite pistons to the machine shop. I used to use a machine shop in Scranton but they are down to one man, and wait times are measured in seasons or years. The guy I used to use there died, along with a wealth of knowledge. I found one near my house in our rural area and I knew it was right. Buick nailhead on the stand, a 455 waiting, a slew of every kind of engine from ag to regular SBC neatly waiting and a very clean shop. The reviews were all 5 star as well as word of mouth in the circle track community. He was actually excited. Very nice guy. He estimated about 2 to 3 weeks.
