Wiggle I’m talking about is the endplay and rods moving along the crank. Not looseness on the crank. I’ve never done plastigage but I’m going to get some tomorrow.

Good, the manual shows how to do it and the clearances. Then you will know what you have.

Seems like it. The engine made awful screeching noise when running last week. Seems like normal engine noise today.

An how about the Holley Sniper? Did you ever see an engine start up cold after having the carb off like that? I’m impressed (so far)

Ordered a black denim top from Bestop for my CJ. Of course it’s on back order and won’t arrive till around May. But at least I got a price locked in before their price increase goes into effect in April.

January 22 was the last time I tried to run the cam break-in. Oil out of the rear main sent me onto an engine “refresh”.

New pistons, rings, main bearings and rod bearings.

Engine out another time because of some bad noise.

I’m finally ready to try running the break-in again.

I’m going to wait for daylight tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Not so good. First oil was coming out the dipstick??otherwise Seemed to be going well then after about 10 min the oil puddle showed up. Leaking from the Front of the bellhousing. Rear Main seal is the only thing that I can think of. I did think I had it replaced correctly. Apparently not.

Pulled off the old fuel pump on the cj5. Man, the bolt on the front is a tight squeeze! No time to get new back on today.

I pulled the engine out yesterday and reworked the seal. Need a oil pan gasket and it’ll go back in this week.

Installed the new fuel sending unit in my tank. I now have a functional gas gauge that reads full to empty:cool:

Lol. I had it working before with my mds tank but it had the wrong sender and would read half what was in the tank. I added a 5v regulator to the back of the cluster so it uses that instead of the original built in regulator that always fries.
