What are your guru's recommendation on filling all these holes in the tub?

There's got to be 100 of them.

Spot weld them slowly and a bit at a time so you don't warp the sheet metal. A piece of copper or brass behind the hole for larger holes can help and is a common technique.

I used a washer behind the antenna hole on mine, then death by 1000 dots with the mig then an angle grinder with a flap disk.

All the holes I found elsewhere, I just zapped with the mig then same with the angle grinder.

Some of the holes with a crack running thru them, I used a segment of nail welded in then filled the crack, and same with the grinder.

lather rinse and repeat a few hundred times.

I migged all mine, for the big ones I filled them with electrical box knock-outs.

Actually i found filling holes to be really easy.

I used a quarter and electrical tape to hold the piece of 18 guage I cut out for the antenna hole.

Be patient and have clean metal.

Do you have to file out the holes or maybe drill them just a bit?

No need to make the holds bigger by drilling them out, making them flat with a hammer would be a better option if you care.

Welds are nicer if metal is clean.

When you weld up the holes it burns the paint. Burning paint probably isn't good for your health. Less paint is probably good, not the end of the world if you burn some paint. Just makes it bubble or start small fire from burning paint. Wire wheele or brush works to clean up a quick spot.

I used a file after to knock the welds down so it was flat. Has more control then a grinder.

I wouldn't go bigger but just enough to get to clean metal...Maybe use a small bit and round them out without enlarging?

Mig weld it. get some 1/8 filler wire and shove it in the hole while you mig weld it to make bigger fills. Grind off the paint, backside and inside too if you can. The rust and paint will cause porosity in your welds.

    Holes or replys?
I spent about 2 months fixing rust and associated holes using a cheap wire feed welder. .025 wire and do the stitch welding method. Don't overheat the body and don't put your hand down on the place you just welded.
I have welded for years. During my last event a friend that is a welding guru watched over my shoulder. "You want a job as a welder?"
Read what people told you. It really isn't that hard to do.
