Plugging Holes...Don, Don't Even Go There!

    When I was doing the work, a neighbor or friend would show up and say I wasn't doing it right and then hand me a beer.

    Practice grasshopper, practice. It will get easier. I might mention to put an angle on your copper backing pipe so it is easier to hold against a flat surface.

    Have you got an acetylene torch? Braze the small ones, and torch weld and hammer to larger ones. Torch welding works OK on places that are on an edge where warping is not a factor, torch welding is a lot harder in large flat areas. Like Nickmil says a piece of copper backup won't stick and helps keep from warping too much.

    I used my Lincoln wire feed...It went faster than expected and I used the copper tip.

    Good idea, I wondered how you would get copper in those little spots. I have cut copper tube and flattened it before. I have a piece of copper buss bar, 1/4" X 2" it make a great heat sink and stops warping in large flat areas.

    I used end of a brass drift punch to back my welds for same snap holes. My welds are full of porosity from welding on the epoxy primer. I'll smear some glaze but should have spot blasted.
