Finally! Dropped off the frame, bumper and crossmember at the sandblasters today, and from there it goes to the powdercoater! I asked him to delay it a week, so I'd have more time to do some stuff to the garage while I have some extra space. I'll pick it all up the 31st.

WooHoo! Finally starting the long road back uphill. I got lucky, that frame is about as cherry as you could hope for. Still, I'm going to look it over after it's blasted and before it's coated, to make sure there's no cracks, but I've been looking it over for months now and never found any. The only rust on it is from sitting in my truck bed overnight, and it rained a little.

That frame appeared to still have the original single coat of paint, I don't think it's ever been touched. I'm almost ashamed of how good shape it's in. Almost.

Well, they forgot about my request to have it done on the 31st, so it's ready now, but I'm not ready to pick it up. Stopped by and looked at everything though, and it is sweeeet!

Just out of curiosity, how much did blasting cost you? I was really unhappy with how my paint turned out, and since nothing is on my frame yet.... I may just go back and do what you did...

You'll get pics...I have to get it home first. I'll try to get it home tomorrow morning, but we're going out of town for three days and it'll be kinda tight trying to squeeze that in before we leave. More likely will be Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning before I pick it up.

Blasting was quoted to me at approx. $125 for the frame. I also brought the front bumper, trans crossmember, dual m/c bracket, and some bolts, and that jacked it up to $185 for the blasting. Powdercoating was quoted at $115 for the frame, but with all the extras it hit $200.

I could have assembled it all together and been back down to the quoted price, but then there would be areas where everything was bolted together that didn't get blasted and coated, so what's the point? I'd rather spend a few more bucks and not have any rusty spots.

    K. I may poke around town and see what I can find. I sure would like something better than what I've got, and I'll kick myself forever if I have to take the dang thing apart again 10 years from now when I coulda spent the extra cash now to not worry about it!
